‘Smile,’ ‘A Quiet Place’ Comic Books in the Works from IDW (Exclusive)

As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for horror genres, I can’t help but feel my heart racing at the news of IDW Dark. With my years of surviving countless jump scares and sleepless nights thanks to these franchises, it’s like a dream come true to see them stepping into the comic book realm.

As a dedicated gamer, I’m thrilled to share that the independent game-turned-comic publisher, IDW, is joining forces with Paramount Pictures! This exciting collaboration will see some iconic Paramount studio properties making their way into comic books under a new imprint known as IDW Dark. It’s going to be an intriguing journey into the world of these beloved franchises through this fresh perspective.

As a gamer, I’m thrilled about these upcoming tales that unfold in the universes of iconic franchises like “A Quiet Place,” “Smile,” “The Twilight Zone,” “Sleepy Hollow,” and “Event Horizon.” This new imprint will also deliver sequels to my favorite IDW titles, such as “30 Days of Night” and “Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees.” I can’t wait to immerse myself in these chilling narratives!

Further details about creative teams and other aspects will be shared later on, however, it’s anticipated that the release of the books will commence in 2025.

The action is taken because Parker Finn’s “Smile 2” debuts in cinemas today as a sequel to the blockbuster hit that earned $217.4 million. This release follows the premiere of “A Quiet Place: Day One” earlier this year, which delved deeper into the franchise’s mythology, extending beyond the two films starring John Krasinski.

Maggie Howell, an editor at IDW, stated that this mark represents our commitment to building on the foundation of horror comics work IDW has accomplished over its 25-year career. She further mentioned that this project is a dream come true for both creators and editors, and everyone involved is eager to give their all as we delve deeper into these fictional universes.

Davidi Jonas, CEO of IDW Media Holdings, commented: “Horror appeals to a devoted audience who seek an intense experience of fear, suspense, terror, relief, elation, joy. From a business perspective, horror offers cost-effectiveness for expansion beyond print, ensuring fans continued interaction with beloved stories and characters. Moreover, like other enduring cultural symbols, horror has its own time – much like cherished traditions that return annually to rekindle feelings of fear, apprehension, and exhilaration that make fans feel intensely alive.
