Smino Drops Nostalgic "Nokia" with Cousin Stizz

As a die-hard fan of Smino and Cousin Stizz, I couldn’t be more excited about their latest collaboration, “Nokia.” Smino’s ability to tap into different eras and infuse them into his music is truly inspiring. When he sat down with TopMob last month and spoke about embodying characters or periods of time in both fashion and music, I knew we were in for a treat.

Last month, Smino had a chat with TopMob. During their conversation, he shared his intentions of representing different characters or time frames in both his music and fashion. For his new single titled “Nokia,” which is the third release of 2024 for him, Smino is drawing inspiration from his nostalgic feelings towards the early 2000s by collaborating with Cousin Stizz.

Instead of “Smi dropped the cut off rather quietly, not doing much promotion on his socials until a few hours before the drop,” you could say “Smi kept a low profile and barely promoted his new collaboration with Cousin Stizz on social media until just before its release. He only posted a simple message on X with a picture of the ‘Nokia’ cover art, announcing ‘new raps with Cousin Stizz tonight. Reach out to me.'”

Before the rappers begin their three-minute track, the well-known Nokia “Original Tune” ringtone plays as an introduction.

In my own words as a fan: “I sent you this track from Smino, isn’t it cool? / This girl devours me like delicious gnocchi, I tell ya / Yeah, I drive my Tesla without a key, amazingly / We were secretly dating, keep it on the down low.” – Smino expresses on the chorus, passing the second verse to Cousin Stizz.

Nokia represents the second collaborative project between Smino and Stizz, released after their first album “Anonymous” which was included in Smino’s 2019 LP “Trying To Find My Next Thrill.”
