‘SNL’: Sabrina Carpenter Joins Quinta Brunson to Honor “Shorties”

Sabrina Carpenter unexpectedly appeared on stage during Quinta Brunson’s speech in Saturday Night Live, and together they sang a tune that celebrated individuals of smaller stature.

Brunson kicked off her SNL monologue by acknowledging it was her second time hosting the cherished program. She then joked that she was evidence that one could accomplish anything they set their mind to, even if others might look down on them.

Brunson proceeded to mention some well-known individuals often referred to as “shorties”, such as Simone Biles, Kendrick Lamar, and Tom Holland. Then, the camera moved to show the Grammy winner. “However, I must wonder,” Brunson said, “Sabrina, why are you here?

“I mean, you were talking about being short, so I thought I’d stop by,” Carpenter added.

The host playfully asked the singer Sabrina, ‘May I inquire about something on a friend-to-friend basis?’ To this, Sabrina replied with a smile, ‘Feel free.’ Brunson then quipped humorously, ‘Does eating short rib make it taste like regular rib because of its size?’

That’s an interesting perspective,” the “Espresso” singer replied, prompting Brunson to continue with his humor about height. “By the way, let me ask you something. Does reading short stories make them seem like novels to you?

Quincy (Brunson), the mastermind behind “Abbott Elementary,” graced the stage once more as host of Saturday Night Live, sharing it with Benson Boone who served as the night’s musical performer. This marked a significant milestone for Brunson, being his initial appearance on SNL, and also his first hosting stint since April 2023.

Brunson and Boone are two of the remaining hosts and musical performers for Saturday Night Live’s historic 50th season. In the following week, actor Walton Goggins from The White Lotus series will serve as the host, with Arcade Fire being the musical act. Finally, Scarlett Johansson and Bad Bunny will conclude season 50 on May 17, with Johansson hosting and Bad Bunny providing the music.
