Snoop Dogg to Host Time100 Special for ABC (Exclusive)

Time and ABC have found the host for this year’s Time100 primetime special.

This year’s Time100 event, organized by Time Studios – the TV and movie division of Time magazine, has announced that Snoop Dogg will serve as the host. The event is scheduled to take place this month in New York City. Additionally, Ed Sheeran and Myles Smith are slated to perform at the gala. The gala is set for April 24th, and the broadcast will air on ABC on May 4th.

Last year, I attended an amazing event – the Time100 gala – which was skillfully hosted by none other than the fabulous Taraji P. Henson. The night was filled with incredible performances from music sensations like Dua Lipa and Fantasia Barrino!

Every year, Time Magazine unveils its prestigious Time100 list, and this year is no exception. Notable personalities like Snoop Dogg and Ed Sheeran have been recognized as honorees. In keeping with tradition, the profiles of these honorees are penned by well-known figures themselves. Hoda Kotb has contributed a piece about Snoop, while Chris Hemsworth has written about Ed Sheeran.

Another combination features Ted Danson with Kristen Bell, Nick Offerman with Adam Scott, Sherrilyn Ifill with Blake Lively, and Ali Wong with Nikki Glaser.

Ifill, a renowned civil rights lawyer, recounted the instance when Lively extended aid to her cause.

In 2019, she and her spouse Ryan Reynolds contacted the NAACP Legal Defense Fund to make a donation. This wasn’t an unusual occurrence for me, as our efforts against voter suppression and police brutality were gaining national recognition. I was always intrigued about the type of investigation famous people conduct prior to extending such support. Those who stayed connected with me, like Blake, were those who, similar to her, thoroughly researched the subject matter. I was immediately impressed by her inquisitiveness and dedication to comprehend the factors that mold our nation. I recall an early discussion where she voiced her annoyance about not learning more about our country’s history during her educational years. Her determination to fill those gaps – and becoming the most knowledgeable and prepared citizen – is what I respect most about her. Blake is a dedicated individual. She’s bold. And she’s focused on advancing our nation. For her children, and for mine.

Time’s annual list, The Time100, is one of their two flagship series, alongside their Person of the Year feature. Beyond recognizing individuals, they’ve extended this franchise to honor Entertainer of the Year, Musician of the Year, and Athlete of the Year as well.
