'Something Is Wrong': Roxy Sternberg Talks Barnes' Long-Awaited Return To FBI: Most Wanted And Butting Heads With Remy

As a dedicated fan who’s been following FBI: Most Wanted since its inception, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation as Roxy Sternberg’s character, Sheryll Barnes, returns to action on November 12. The life experiences Barnes has garnered over the past five seasons have honed her instincts, making her a formidable force in the Fugitive Task Force.

In October of 2024, the TV show FBI: Most Wanted is set to return, bringing updates on the relationships among the Fugitive Task Force agents. Meanwhile, Sheryll Barnes, played by Roxy Sternberg, has been off-screen, helping her kids adjust to life in Washington D.C. with Charlotte. Now, Barnes is ready to rejoin the action in a new episode airing on November 12, and Sternberg shared with TopMob that she’ll be clashing with Remy (Dylan McDermott) in her first case back, with potential complications ahead.

The upcoming episode on November 12 is titled “Pig Butchering,” and it will feature Barnes ignoring a command from Remy regarding an investigation into a suspicious call center. Despite receiving a worrying call from a young girl, Barnes felt compelled to delve into the case, potentially complicating matters. Tensions between Barnes and Remy have arisen since they began collaborating following Jess’ demise, but this time around, what sets their disagreement apart? Sternberg provided insight on this matter, stating:

It seems like the initial interaction was focused on getting to know each other and adjusting to new situations. This time, however, it appears to be more about teamwork and disobeying the boss’s instructions when instincts suggest something is amiss. In Barnes’ case, her intuition is guiding her actions, even if there might be consequences.

In the long-running series FBI: Most Wanted, Barnes, one of the original members of the Fugitive Task Force, has spent five seasons so far, demonstrating that trusting her instincts often solves cases effectively. However, Remy might not be too pleased if this approach contradicts his directives. The upcoming storyline, as hinted by Sternberg, seems to be less about personal matters, which is intriguing given their shared experiences with relationship issues during the previous season (an episode that can be rewatched with a Peacock subscription).

Regrettably, Sternberg confirmed that Sternberg’s attempts to mend things with Charlotte during the previous season didn’t succeed, resulting in a separation and Charlotte moving with their children to Washington D.C. However, this private struggle won’t hinder Barnes from fulfilling her professional duties, according to Sternberg.

It seems she’s more than prepared for this! This opportunity serves as a timely diversion and couldn’t arrive at a more opportune moment. Given the challenges in her personal life, she requires professional success, so this task and case appear crucial to her, hence she dives into it with full force, despite being instructed to pass it on to Jubal.

Over seven seasons, Jubal Valentine (Jeremy Sisto) has tackled cases on FBI while dealing with personal issues. Therefore, it’s understandable that Remy would trust his team to manage the call center case. On the other hand, Barnes seems more inclined to rush in headfirst rather than delegating the case. It remains unclear whether she’ll face repercussions from Remy for defying his instructions. Sternberg also voiced her thoughts on whether Barnes has a professional support system within the team.

Indeed, yes. Whether she has utilized this approach in the past is a separate matter. However, I observe that she appears to be disclosing more than typical, which provides her comfort – she primarily interacts with her colleagues who are fellow agents. On a regular basis, they entrust their lives to one another. Given these circumstances, it seems entirely reasonable that they would support each other during challenging times!

Good news for fans of FBI: Most Wanted! The long wait to witness Barnes’ return will soon be over, as “Pig Butchering” is set to air on Tuesday, November 12 at 10 p.m. ET on CBS. From the preview, it appears the Fugitive Task Force has a perilous case on their hands, regardless of how Remy initially intended to investigate it. Here’s a sneak peek:

Every Tuesday evening, CBS wraps up its crime drama lineup with FBI airing at 8 PM Eastern Time and FBI: International following at 9 PM ET. For those who prefer streaming over live viewing, you can catch up on the latest episodes of all three shows with a Paramount+ subscription starting this fall.
