Sonakshi Sinha admits father Shatrughan Sinha is very 'fond of' hubby Zaheer Iqbal; opens up on his reaction to their wedding: 'Jab miyan biwi raazi...'

In a recent reveal, Bollywood star Sonakshi Sinha shares the reaction of her parents, Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha, when she announced her marriage to longtime boyfriend Zaheer Iqbal, dispelling earlier reports suggesting dissatisfaction within the Sinha family.

In a recent interview with Zoom, the Dabangg actress admitted that her friends and family knew about her relationship with Zaheer Iqbal for years. Talking about her father’s reaction, Sonakshi Sinha said, “My dad was very happy. He said, ‘Jab miyan biwi raazi toh kya karega kaazi (If the couple is ready to get married, then who can stop?)’ He had met Zaheer a few times before. He is very fond of him.” 

Sonakshi added that her father and husband share birthday dates close together. “My father’s birthday falls on December 9, while my husband’s is on December 10, making their birthdays quite alike,” said the actress.

In discussing her mother Poonam Sinha’s response, Sonakshi shared that since her parents were also a love-married couple, she felt comfortable opening up to her first. She expressed, “My mom knew him. He was the one I confided in. They themselves had experienced a love marriage, so they understand how it unfolds.

For those not in the know, Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal were romantically linked for seven years without ever announcing their relationship publicly. However, they took everyone by surprise when they announced their wedding. On June 23 in Mumbai, they had a private civil ceremony, followed by an extravagant reception that drew the elite of Bollywood.

On the professional side of things, Sonakshi captured hearts with her acting in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi. Most recently, she appeared in a blend of horror and comedy, titled Kakuda. Currently, the actress is relishing her married life but will soon return to the camera for another project.
