Sonam Kapoor, Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor break down after grandmother Nirmal Kapoor’s funeral

Yesterday, May 2nd, 2025, Nirmal Kapoor, the mother of Boney Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, and Sanjay Kapoor, passed away. The family, along with friends from the industry, are deeply mourning this loss. Today’s funeral took place at the Pawan Hans Crematorium in Mumbai. As the granddaughters, Sonam Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, and Khushi Kapoor, paid their respects, they were visibly emotional after performing their grandmother’s last rites.

As I walked through the somber scene of my uncle’s funeral, I found myself overcome with emotion, a moment captured by the watchful lens of the paparazzi. My head bowed in sorrow, I couldn’t help but feel the weight of loss in that instant.

In a different video, Khushi Kapoor and Janhvi Kapoor were spotted dabbing away their tears as they left the crematorium following the final rituals of their grandma. Accompanying them was Shikhar Pahariya, who is Janhvi’s boyfriend.

Additionally, it was observed that other relatives such as Anil Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Shanaya Kapoor, Boney Kapoor, Maheep Kapoor, Anshula Kapoor, among others, had arrived at the funeral prior to it.

Additionally, Jackie Shroff, Farhan Akhtar, Ayan Mukerji, Arbaaz Khan, Rani Mukerji, Karan Johar, Fardeen Khan, Anupam Kher, and other notable individuals from the world of film attended to express their condolences.

This afternoon, Boney Kapoor posted a heartfelt message on Instagram about the passing of his mother, Nirmal Surinder Kapoor. The family’s statement indicated that she passed away peacefully on May 2nd, 2025, with her cherished family by her side. She led a contented and fulfilling life, leaving behind four devoted children, caring spouses, a loving son-in-law, eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and countless precious memories.

The statement went on to say, “Her selfless nature and endless affection impacted everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. She will continue to be deeply loved and sorely missed by BONEY, ANIL, REENA, SANJAY, SUNITA, SANDIP, MAHEEP, MOHIT, AKSHAY, SONAM, ARJUN, RHEA, HARSHVARDHAN, ANSHULA, JANHVI, SHANAYA, KHUSHI, JAHAAN, ANTARA, ANAND, AASHITA, KARAN, THEA, VAYU, AYRA, and YUVAAN.

For those who don’t know, Nirmal Kapoor, who was 90 years old, recently passed away. It is said that her death occurred at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai, presumably from aging complications.
