Sonic Rumble soft launches for Android in the Philippines

  • Sonic Rumble has hit soft launch in the Philippines!
  • You can get your hands on it right now on Google Play, if you’re in the right territory
  • Unfortunately, iOS seems to be off the cards for the moment

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I’ve seen the rise and fall of countless gaming franchises, and Sonic the Hedgehog is no exception. While I’ve always had a soft spot for Sega’s speedy mascot, I must admit that my enthusiasm for his latest mobile outing, Sonic Rumble, is tinged with a touch of skepticism.

As a gamer based in the Philippines, I’m pumped up to share that we’re getting early access again! Sonic Rumble is now softly launched on Google Play for us. This isn’t your regular mobile game; it’s a pseudo battle royale where iconic characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog series go head-to-head in multiplayer races towards the finish line. Get ready to run!

Unfortunately, it appears the game is no longer available on the App Store for iOS users. We’ll monitor the situation to see if anything changes. It seems that Sonic, which has experienced ups and downs in popularity, is part of Sega’s larger strategy focusing on mobile gaming, particularly since their acquisition of Rovio, the creators of Angry Birds, last year.

Regarding this new launch, I must admit there are similarities reminiscent of Stumble Guys. Moreover, the mobile multiplayer market is growing more crowded with both emerging and established players. Therefore, it remains to be seen if Sonic can generate enough interest to distinguish itself from the competition. Time will tell.

Rumble time

To be honest, I’m doubtful that Sonic Rumble will make a significant impact. It seems multiplayer games are facing challenges in staying contemporary today. With people having less and less free time, there’s a clear trend towards offline modes in many mobile games, as they minimize the need for data or wifi usage.

Even though things might not be perfect, it’s reassuring to know that some games are well-made. If you’re worried about what game suits your taste, relax!
