Sony to Release Select Amazon MGM Movies Overseas, Beginning With Luca Guadagnino’s ‘After the Hunt’

Amazon’s MGM Studios is collaborating with Sony to distribute some of their upcoming big-name films globally, while they establish their own international distribution network.

According to a joint announcement from the two studios, Sony will manage international responsibilities for “After the Hunt“, “Mercy”, “Crime 101”, and “Project Hail Mary”.

I opted for a slightly different structure while maintaining the original meaning. I hope this helps! Let me know if you need further assistance or variations.

After making these releases, Amazon MGM will personally handle the distribution of theatrical titles in foreign territories where they establish their own offices. Sony, however, will assist the studio with distribution in other international markets, except for the next James Bond film, which will be handled overseas by Universal.

In the psychological thriller “After the Hunt,” directed by Luca Guadagnino and set to premiere in select theaters on October 10, later expanding nationwide on October 17, Julia Roberts plays a character who is forced to face her own history when a pupil (Ayo Edebiri) accuses one of her fellow teachers (Andrew Garfield) of wrongdoing. This film marks Guadagnino’s reunion with Amazon MGM, the studio that distributed his movie “Challengers” starring Zendaya.

Timur Bekmambetov’s sci-fi thriller titled “Mercy,” featuring Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson, has been scheduled to debut on January 23rd. Originally planned for a release in late summer 2025, the movie now moves forward with its premiere. In this film, Pratt plays a detective in a future setting, who is wrongly accused of a brutal crime and must fight to clear his name in a world where severe crimes are becoming increasingly common. Alongside Pratt, Annabelle Wallis, Kali Reis, Chris Sullivan, Kylie Rogers, Jeff Pierre, Rafi Gavron, Jamie McBride, and Kenneth Choi also star.

The crime-filled movie titled “Crime 101,” featuring Chris Hemsworth and Halle Berry in the lead roles, is scheduled to debut on February 13, marking the start of the profitable Valentine’s Day and Presidents Day weekend. This film is directed by Bart Layton and is adapted from a Don Winslow novella. Alongside Halle Berry, it stars Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbaro, Corey Hawkins, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Nick Nolte.
