Sosie Bacon Opioid Drama ‘Hazard’ Lands Early 2025 Release (Exclusive)

As a movie enthusiast with a penchant for gritty dramas that delve deep into societal issues, I am utterly captivated by the upcoming film “Hazard.” With its all-star cast, led by Sosie Bacon and Alex Roe, this drug-focused drama promises to be an unforgettable cinematic experience.

Featuring Sosie Bacon and Alex Roe, the upcoming movie titled “Hazard“, which revolves around drugs, will be released in cinemas at the beginning of next year.

The film directed by Eddie Mensore has been purchased by Emphatic Pictures and RBL Films for a U.S., Canada, U.K., and other regions’ theater release on January 10, 2025. Steven Ogg and Dave Davis are among the cast members in this movie, which takes place in the Appalachian mining town of Hazard, Kentucky, and delves into the persistent opioid crisis.

The story revolves around Will (Roe), a drug dealer who is hesitant about his role, struggling to rescue his family that has fallen victim to opioid addiction while trying to earn a living and fight his personal battles with addiction himself.

In the trailer, Roe says to his partner Sara (portrayed by Bacon), “I’ll always carry Hazard with me.” He also mentions, “Mining isn’t my path.” Worried about their finances, Bacon asks, “Is it true you have $10,000 saved?

Hazard, a film that counts Mensore among its writer, director, and producer alongside Roe and Bacon in these roles, is set to debut at the 2024 Woodstock Film Festival on October 18th. The soundtrack for this movie will be released by executive producer Gill Holland’s record label, sonaBLAST! Records.

Bacon’s first major acting gig was in the horror movie “Smile,” directed by Parker Finn, which Paramount Pictures released in September 2022. Prior to this, she had worked on various television shows such as “Scream,” “13 Reasons Why,” “Narcos: Mexico,” “Mare of Easttown,” and “As We See It.” These shows are the daughter of Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick’s projects.

In his portfolio, Roe boasts acting roles such as the horror movie “Rings” released in 2017 and the romantic drama “Forever My Girl,” which was adapted for the big screen in 2018 and featured Jessica Rothe. His small-screen appearances encompass portraying Pat Garrett in the MGM+ series “Billy the Kid” and his role in the Freeform production titled “Siren.

Back in 2019, I had the privilege of penning and guiding the production of a movie titled “Mine 9”. This gripping tale revolves around a group of miners stuck deep beneath the Appalachian Mountains.
