As a seasoned Star Wars enthusiast who has witnessed the rise and fall of countless Wookiee warriors, both on and off-screen, I must admit, the uncertainty surrounding Boba Fett’s future leaves me hanging like Han Solo in carbonite.
Apart from maintaining a regular release schedule on Disney+, the Star Wars universe under Lucasfilm is going through a phase of unpredictability, impacting some of the actors too. For instance, Boba Fett’s actor, Temuera Morrison, has pondered over his potential return as the renowned Bounty Hunter in future Star Wars projects. However, it seems unlikely that we’ll see Boba Fett in any of the upcoming series that Disney and Lucasfilm have lined up at this moment.
Due to delays and changes in writers for upcoming “Star Wars” feature films by Lucasfilm, like the Rey spinoff, and no clear plans beyond a new trilogy from Simon Kinberg, it seems that Disney is grappling with deciding where to take this beloved franchise next. Furthermore, even creators like Morrison are unsure about the future of “Star Wars,” which suggests that Boba Fett’s comeback might not be imminent.
In my conversation with The RaeSide, Morrison shares his current standing within the Star Wars universe, admitting, “[I’m] unsure about the developments on the Star Wars front.” Sadly, it appears that Disney and Lucasfilm haven’t yet called upon Morrison or Boba Fett for future projects. During our chat, he also expressed hope for a second season of his spin-off series, “The Book of Boba Fett,” but hinted that we must all wait and see what transpires as there seem to be no concrete plans at this time for another installment.
‘The Book of Boba Fett’ Star is Unsure of His ‘Star Wars’ Future
Temuera Morrison triumphantly returned to Star Wars after a long hiatus from his appearance in the prequel trilogy, appearing first in The Mandalorian Season 2 before spinning off into his own series, The Book of Boba Fett. The show was met with a mixed reception but featured an impressive cast, most notably Ming-Na Wen as Fennec Shand, also introduced in The Mandalorian, who Morrison would say in the same RaeSide interview that he would like to “work with [her] again.” The series featured Boba Fett establishing himself as the new ruler in what was once Jabba the Hutt’s territory and ended on a definitive note with the character now a benevolent but deadly ruler.
Based on the character’s significant return in “The Mandalorian” and their cameo in the final episode of “The Book of Boba Fett,” it’s plausible that they could star in the upcoming “Mandalorian & Grogu” film. However, since the movie has already wrapped production and actor Temuera Morrison hasn’t spoken about his involvement, it seems he might be keeping quiet about his role or may not be part of any future projects at present.
As a devoted Star Wars fan, I can’t help but ponder the possibilities that lie ahead for my beloved saga. Despite the numerous shifts in the timeline of upcoming Star Wars projects, there remains a glimmer of hope that Morrison’s Boba Fett might reappear in a future production. It seems that no character is truly gone forever, as we’ve seen others of legendary status resurface since Disney took over Lucasfilm, giving us fans the tantalizing sensation that any character could make a comeback.
