The cast and creators of Andor, including Diego Luna, Kyle Soller, Adria Arjona, Genevieve O’Reilly, Alan Tudyk, Denise Gough, creator Tony Gilroy, and executive producer Sanne Wohlenberg, gathered for a quick Q&A before the screening.

Luna, who portrays Cassian Andor, exclaimed, “It’s vast in every aspect – there’s even more excitement, physical action, and emotional depth. Since we’re approaching the scale of Rogue One, every moment carries significant weight. It’s emotionally charged and intense. After completing this final season, I encourage you to watch Rogue One, as you’ll experience a completely different movie.

Gilroy clarified that the duration of the first season’s storyline was approximately one year, whereas the second season will span four years. This means that each group of three episodes will represent a single year. The plan is to release these sets of three episodes every week, making it equivalent to releasing a full movie per week. Gilroy also mentioned that they focus on choosing the most crucial three days for each set.

Genevieve O’Reilly, our beloved character from the series, expressed her excitement by saying, “It seems as though we’ve been holding onto a precious gem, and we can hardly contain our eagerness to unveil it to you.

In this season, we discover the origins of the character Dedra, as well as aspects that shape her personality, and things become quite unusual, according to Gough, who portrays Imperial official Dedra Meero. Without revealing too many details, let me tell you that Dedra truly reveals herself in this season. This season was considerably darker. It wasn’t just about being a boss, but rather delving into more oppressive, fascist themes, which is quite different from my usual roles, so it required some intense acting on my part.

Adria Arjona, who plays Bix Caleen, commented on how challenging season one was for her character. In season two, Bix is seen away from home and working on rebuilding herself after the events involving Dr Gorst. The audience also gets a glimpse of a budding relationship in season one that develops further.

Arjona commented on the dynamic between her character and Cassian Andor, saying it was often misunderstood. However, she hinted that this season will offer a clearer picture of their relationship development, which she finds particularly appealing.”

Or, more informally:

“Arjona talked about the confusion surrounding her character’s bond with Cassian Andor. But she promised that this season would give us a closer look at how these characters connect – something she really enjoys watching unfold.

As a die-hard Star Wars fan, our very first convention was in London, and boy, did I realize ’empty hands’ don’t work here!” Luna began the first episode. “We aimed to create something extraordinary, something unprecedented – something we could never replicate again. So please, put down your phones, because what’s coming next is exclusively for your eyes.

Andor revolves around Cassian Andor, a former thief who transforms from an ordinary individual to a powerful yet reluctant rebel due to his anger against the oppressive Empire. Originally seen in the movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, this character later starred in a series that premiered on Disney+ in 2022.

Initially, the first season was established five years prior to the film’s events and garnered unprecedented acclaim from both critics (it secured eight Emmy nominations in various categories, including best drama series) and viewers. The upcoming second season of this program consists of twelve episodes, organized into four distinct narrative arcs, with each segment advancing the storyline by one year, gradually approaching the timeframe of Rogue One.

Season two of Andor debuts on Disney+ on April 22.

The Star Wars Celebration, a convention that happens approximately every two years and brings together fans of the iconic sci-fi franchise created by George Lucas, is currently taking place in Tokyo, Japan. At this event, Disney has unveiled the title and release date for the standalone Star Wars film directed by Shawn Levy and starring Ryan Gosling, announced a new animated series focused on Darth Maul, and presented the first trailer for The Mandalorian & Grogu.
