In an interview featuring Rachel Bay Jones (Mandy’s mother Audrey) and Will Sasso (Mandy’s father Jim) from the popular spinoff series of Young Sheldon, they shared their desired guest stars for Season 2. Sasso expressed interest in having both Wallace Shawn, who portrayed Professor John Sturgis in the original series, and Reba McEntire, who appeared as June in multiple seasons, return. In fact, Sasso enthusiastically declared, “Bring back Reba!”

Rachel Bay Jones expressed that she’s having a wonderful time working with Zoe Perry, who portrays Mary. This experience has been incredibly rewarding for her. She added that the show’s writing team seems to be thoroughly enjoying crafting their on-screen feud. They also had a great time collaborating with Annie Potts, whom she considers one of her closest friends. Furthermore, she mentioned that having Lance Barber appear as Georgie’s father, in some form or another, would make the series even better.

Initially, Sasso and Bay Jones were introduced as Emily Osment’s character Mandy McAllister’s parents in the show “Young Sheldon,” a spinoff of the long-running series “The Big Bang Theory.” This prequel ran for 7 seasons from 2017 to 2024. Just a few months after “Young Sheldon” ended, the story picked up again, this time with Montana Jordan and Osment back in the lead roles. The series also welcomed many familiar faces, such as Matt Hobby, Craig T. Nelson, and Raegan Revord, who all reprised their roles from “Young Sheldon” for the sequel series.

The TV show “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage” has given fans a sense of healing and release, especially concerning the demise of Lance Barber’s character, George Cooper. This character died just before the end of the “Young Sheldon” series finale. In November, it was pointed out that the scene at George’s grave lacked the core family members, with the explanation being that “It seemed fitting for them to be present.

Holland stated that while Meemaw is indeed significant in the story, he decided to focus on the immediate family for a more impactful visual. Additionally, this choice helped strengthen the humor when revisiting the McAllister house, as it was amusing to imagine these miscellaneous individuals remaining there without their family, including Dale and Meemaw who seemed to be unexpectedly stranded, having Thanksgiving dinner without their kin.
