According to the Korean developer Shift Up, no official confirmation has been made about the Switch 2 version of its popular game, Stellar Blade, which is currently available on PlayStation 5 and PC.
Today, the studio marked its ongoing growth by presenting each employee with a brand-new Nintendo console. You might remember they had given their team PS5 Pro units and additional cash incentives in the past.
Earlier today, Play Forum.net announced that a Seoul-based studio is contemplating a Nintendo Switch port of its highly successful character action game. Originally published by Sony for the PS5, the game had a PC release last week and has already surpassed sales of three million units.
It’s worth noting that the rights to this game belong to Shift Up. When their contract with PlayStation ends, they’ll have the freedom to distribute it anywhere they choose. However, a report only mentions that the studio has obtained Switch 2 development kits. This doesn’t necessarily imply that Stellar Blade will be ported to the Nintendo Switch.
Indeed, the team is simultaneously developing another project known as “Project Spirits”. This project was conceived as a multi-platform endeavor right from the start.
Generally speaking, Sony has been quite accommodating towards the original Nintendo Switch, launching games such as LEGO Horizon Adventures on this platform and even giving Bandai Namco permission to license franchises like Freedom Wars and Patapon. Since Sony doesn’t view Nintendo as a direct competitor, it’s conceivable that Stellar Blade might eventually become available on the Switch as well.
At this point, the developer doesn’t seem to have any news to share about that topic, and we anticipate that the situation might stay the same for a while.
