As a devoted Stephen King fan, I’m thrilled to hear that the master of horror has reemerged on a platform once known as Twitter! Known for his candid opinions on everything from films and literature to politics and current events, this esteemed author had a significant presence there. After stepping away last November amidst the election and Elon Musk’s acquisition, I was eagerly waiting for his return. Now, he’s back with a bang, addressing none other than President [blank], Russian President Vladimir Putin, and tech mogul Elon Musk in two thought-provoking posts!
According to Variety, the author of popular horror novels such as Pet Sematary, Carrie, The Shining, and It, has chosen to return to the challenging domain that is X, the social media platform operated by Musk. King had been away from X since Donald Trump was reelected president in November last year. Upon his departure, he left this message: “I’m leaving Twitter. The environment has become too hostile. If you’d like, find me on Threads instead.
Trump and Musk are seemingly ignoring the Constitution they swore to protect. He also wrote: ‘It seems that Donald Trump continues to stoop lower and act shamefully. Today, he’s accusing Ukraine of causing the war and labeling Zelensky as a dictator, when in reality, Putin’s re-elections are orchestrated.’
Stephen King Has Some Choice Words for Donald Trump & Elon Musk
It appears that Stephen King has made a surprise comeback to X. He’s hinted at this return with a playful remark, “I’m back! Did you miss me?”, which was followed by one of his strongest and most passionate statements to date.
Just wanted to say that Trump is a traitorous, Putin-loving dipsh*t! Goes double for Elon!
Enthusiasts of Stephen King’s works are bound to rejoice at the author’s latest appearance, considering his frequent online engagements, film and television critiques, casual updates, and outspoken demeanor. Moreover, they have an additional cause for jubilation. Today marks the theater release of The Monkey, a screen adaptation of one of King’s stories, which promises all the chills and chaos characteristic of a King adaptation by auteur Osgood “Oz” Perkins, known as Longlegs.
Upcoming Stephen King adaptations include Mike Flanagan’s movie “The Life of Chuck,” scheduled for a theater release on June 6, 2025; Edgar Wright’s adaptation of “The Running Man,” slated for release on November 7, 2025; and Francis Lawrence’s “The Long Walk,” yet to announce its release date. For television, HBO is set to air the prequel “It: Welcome to Derry” in 2026. Other adaptations in development include Mike Flanagan’s TV miniseries adaptation of “Carrie,” Paul Greengrass’ failed feature film version of “Fairy Tale” being turned into a TV series, and “The Institute,” which will be released by MGM+ at an undetermined future date.
