As a long-time devotee of cinema and literature, particularly those that delve into the eerie and supernatural realms, I find myself utterly captivated by the ongoing saga surrounding Stephen King‘s favorite series, “Evil.” Having spent countless hours immersed in King’s chilling tales and the silver screen adaptations thereof, I can truly appreciate his unabashed enthusiasm for this exceptional streaming series.
As a fervent admirer, I can’t help but express my excitement that the fourth and concluding season of “Evil” has just dropped on Paramount+. However, even this finale doesn’t seem to deter the reigning horror maestro, Stephen King, from yearning for additional episodes of this critically acclaimed streaming series. The gripping tale of “Evil” unfolds with Katja Herbers, Mike Colter, Aasif Mandvi, and Michael Emerson portraying characters with diverse backgrounds who are tasked with unraveling supernatural phenomena that could potentially trace back to the inception of evil. Despite Paramount+ having previously announced the cancellation of the series before its fourth season, King’s ardor for “Evil” is evident, as he has openly expressed his eagerness for the show to resurface with even more episodes.
Stephen King took to social media platform X/Twitter to express a desire for more of the series ‘Evil’, making a direct appeal to Paramount+ with the simple yet impactful statement: “Dear Paramount+: More EVIL, please.“. The renowned horror writer is not singular in this wish, as it is shared by both fans and critics, all eager for more of ‘Evil’. Interestingly, Katja Herbers, who portrays Dr. Kristen Bouchard on the show, responded to King’s tweet on X/Twitter, expressing gratitude for his support and likely concurring with his sentiment, saying: “From the depths of our hearts that are ‘Evil’, thank you!!”.
On more than one occasion, King has voiced his affection for Evil. Previously, Herbers shared a clip on X/Twitter featuring King endorsing the show with the message “Can we start filming Season 5 now? Thanks @StephenKing #Evil.“. King often champions undervalued series, and Evil is the newest addition to his list. Fans are eagerly awaiting a fifth season of Evil, but as of now, there’s no indication that it will be produced on Paramount+. Nevertheless, the show’s co-creator has already conceived ideas for an unmade Season 5.
What Evil Season 5 Could’ve Looked Like According to Co-Creator
During an interview with TV Insider, Robert King (not to be confused with Stephen King) hinted at potential plot developments for Season 5 of “Evil,” shifting from the events of Season 4. Drawing from the first two episodes of the current season, if there had been a fifth season, it would have featured the supernatural-investigating team delving deeper into the court system, and a greater emphasis on the spread of demonic influence within the courthouse.
In the initial two episodes, we hinted at a larger exploration of the court system and its dark aspects. We intended to delve deeper into this theme, with demons subtly corrupting the courthouse, requiring Katja Herbers’ character, Kristen, to take on a more significant role. In such circumstances, all three main characters would have been called upon to testify.
The final episode of Evil hinted at potential returns for all characters, although they were left in a favorable position. The core trio has separated, but there remains ample evil to explore should circumstances allow. However, Robert King told TV Insider that the finale was intentionally designed as the last appearance of these characters, stating “we aimed to conclude the show in a manner that was fulfilling for us as creators and viewers alike, which is why you saw that ending.”
