Five years since the finale of “Steven Universe“, the world associated with the show is growing once more.
A new series titled “Steven Universe: Lars of the Stars” is being developed for Prime Video, spotlighting the character Lars Barriga. This series originates from the original show’s creator, Rebecca Sugar, and supervising director Ian Jones-Quartey, who will serve as executive producers. The project is being handled by Cartoon Network Studios, as announced on Tuesday at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
Sugar unveiled her latest production at Annecy following a live rendition of an original tune she penned especially for the popular Cartoon Network show, “Adventure Time.
During the Warner Bros. Animation gathering, I was thrilled to hear that Cartoon Network unveiled some exciting news. They announced a spin-off of Adventure Time titled “Adventure Time: Side Quests” and also revealed plans for season 10 of Teen Titans Go! As a dedicated gamer and fan, these updates have me eagerly anticipating more adventures in the magical world of Ooo and the hilarious escapades of my favorite superheroes.
Lars Among the Stars: This story revolves around Lars Barriga, a perpetual adolescent and interstellar outlaw, who along with his bandit crew, traffics illicit goods, eludes law enforcement, and unearths the most sinister mysteries hidden within the crumbling Gem Empire.
If “Lars of the Stars” is set for release on Amazon Prime Video, it will mark the first time a show from the Steven Universe universe won’t be broadcast on Cartoon Network. The original series spanned from 2013 to 2019 and was later followed by a full-length movie and another series titled “Steven Universe Future,” which wrapped up in 2020.
Regarding “Teen Titans Go!”, the renewal has extended its status as the longest-running animated series in the DC universe. The release date for season 10, where we’ll continue to join Robin, Starfire, Cyborg, Beast Boy, and Raven on their (mis)adventures, hasn’t been revealed yet. Luke Cormican, Peggy Regan, and Sam Register serve as executive producers for the series, which hails from Warner Bros. Animation.

The Annecy exhibition unveiled sneak peeks and concept sketches for several upcoming shows. These include:
1. The preschool spin-off series, “Foster’s Funtime for Imaginary Friends,” a continuation of Craig McCracken’s popular Cartoon Network show, “Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends.”
2. The seventh season revival of “The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball,” created by Ben Bocquelet, which will air on Hulu and Cartoon Network International, following the hit series, “The Amazing World of Gumball.”
3. “SuperMutant Magical Academy,” an upcoming Adult Swim show from J.G. Quintel, the creator of “Regular Show” and “Close Enough.” This show is based on Jillian Tamaki’s webcomic of the same name.
Each of these shows was highlighted at the Annecy exhibition.
