The primary objective for that character seemed to be to provide an intriguing twist for the Scooby-Doo gang, aka the Hawkins gang, as they delved into the mystery of Vecna and Henry. It was a fascinating avenue for the plot to develop in this manner. I’m truly impressed with Joe’s acting skills.
I think he improv-ed “I love you, man.” I think that was just him, and his coverage was so good.
We had to shoot that scene twice because I deeply disliked our initial attempt. Despite his excellent performance, I failed to focus on him properly. The early morning hour of 5:00 AM added to the challenge, as we had already completed a full day of filming and were feeling fatigued. Consequently, I was unable to fully engage during that shoot.
As a gamer, I couldn’t shake off an uneasy feeling during our previous take. But when we revisited the scene with Eddie’s uncle at the school gym, something clicked. It just felt right. The Duffer brothers were thrilled with it and wanted to incorporate that energy into Joe’s performance. Generously, Joe agreed to revisit that emotional space on a soundstage. I believe this addition will significantly enhance both Eddie’s character arc and the upcoming developments for Dustin. Clearly, this element isn’t going to be discarded lightly.
Dustin Will Play a Crucial Role in Stranger Things Season 5
As a devoted fan of the show, I can’t help but reflect on the unique bond between Dustin and Steve throughout the seasons. However, it’s Eddie’s unexpected friendship with Dustin that has captured the hearts of many viewers. Consequently, Eddie’s untimely demise is likely to leave a profound impact on him, considering most people seemed indifferent to his welfare. This emotional turmoil could lead to one of two possible outcomes: Vecna exploiting Dustin’s vulnerability or Dustin using Eddie’s sacrifice as motivation to press forward in their shared mission.
