As a seasoned gamer and binge-watcher of countless hours, I can confidently say that the streaming scene has never looked so promising. The week of Nov. 18-24 was nothing short of a goldmine for those of us who live and breathe the small screen.
The week of Nov. 18-24 was a good one to premiere a streaming show with “man” in the title.
In their debut weeks, Netflix’s “A Man on the Inside” and Paramount+’s “Landman” were among the top five original streaming series. The Ted Danson-led “A Man on the Inside,” about a widower who disguises himself as a resident in a retirement home to work for a detective, garnered 880 million minutes of viewership during its first week. This places it either as the second or third strongest premiere for a streaming comedy in 2024, depending on whether “The Bear” (1.23 billion minutes in its season three premiere week) is considered one. (The viewership for “Nobody Wants This” exceeded a billion minutes in its first week.)
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve got to say that I’ve racked up an impressive 653 million minutes watching Landman. The first two episodes, released on Nov 17, were the main draw, with the third episode, debuted on Nov 24, unfortunately only having a day to add to the total. Interestingly enough, three other shows from Taylor Sheridan made it to the top 10 originals on Paramount+ – Lioness (551 million minutes) and Tulsa King (526 million), with Yellowstone library episodes on Peacock garnering 520 million minutes as well.
Amazon Prime Video’s show “Cross” held onto the top spot in overall viewership for the second consecutive week with 1.2 billion minutes watched, slightly lower than its initial 1.36 billion minutes. The only other title to surpass a billion minutes of viewing for the week was “Family Guy” on Hulu, with 1.09 billion minutes viewed. In terms of movies, “Deadpool & Wolverine” maintained the leading position in the rankings for a second week, although its viewing time dropped significantly from the previous listings.
Nielsen’s streaming rankings account for viewing exclusively on traditional TV screens and exclude time spent watching on computers or mobile devices. Moreover, these ratings solely focus on American viewers, excluding audiences from other nations. Here is the list of top streaming titles in the United States from November 18-24, 2024:
