Stree 2: Abhishek Banerjee aka Jana reveals movie’s success has sent 3 opportunities his way; ‘wasn’t getting these offers earlier’

As an ardent fan of this charismatic actor, I must say that Abhishek Banerjee‘s journey has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride! His recent Friday extravaganza with Stree 2 and Vedaa is a testament to his versatility and the massive appeal he holds in Bollywood.

Actor Abhishek Banerjee enjoyed a career-best Friday with his two major films, Stree 2 and Vedaa, going head-to-head at the box office during the Independence Day weekend. In an interview with News 18 Showsha, Banerjee shared that he began receiving offers for lead roles shortly after the phenomenal success of Stree 2.

Abhishek admitted, “I didn’t receive these high-quality offers before. Earlier, the ones I received were limited in scope and low-budget. Last week, I received three new opportunities. I plan to evaluate them carefully before making a decision. This change is significant.” The 39-year-old emphasized that professional success holds great importance for him and truly values it.

Abhishek Banerjee admitted he doesn’t strive to come off as intellectual, and instead, takes pride in being commercial. He enjoys making films to entertain people, just as much as he enjoys working on movies like ‘Stolen’. As an actor, he can’t stand doing dull material, that’s all.

Although Stree 2 has been a hit at the box office, the movie Vedaa directed by Banerjee is facing difficulties there. The actor described this as a mixed emotion. He stated that Nikkhil Advani’s ‘beautiful film’ had about 60% attendance in major cities, and audiences even applauded during the closing scene.

Abhishek commented, “The issue lies in the fact that Stree has turned out to be an unstoppable force, given it’s both a continuation and a character audiences are familiar with. What took everyone by surprise was just how massive this monster from Stree would become – I knew it would be big, but not on the scale of Godzilla.”

Abhishek also admitted that successful commercial films afford directors the ability to produce more movies of that kind. He went on to say that not every filmmaker has the capacity to create a masterpiece like “Laapataa Ladies” (Aamir Khan) or “12th Fail” (Vidhu Vinod Chopra). He emphasized that they’re able to do so due to their commercial triumphs.

On the work front, Abhishek Banerjee will be next seen in Suriya 44.
