Stree 2: Amar Kaushik admits confronting Aparshakti Khurana over his controversial PR-game remark around movie’s credit war

As a die-hard fan of Bollywood, I have to admit that I’ve been following the Stree 2 credit debate with bated breath. It’s like watching a nail-biting thriller, where every twist and turn keeps me on the edge of my seat!

The question of who deserves credit for the phenomenal success of Stree 2 has sparked a nationwide discussion, with everyone offering their opinions on the matter. However, the film’s cast members have largely avoided entering into this debate. Yet, Aparshakti Khurana made a statement that escalated the credit-war discussion even further. Now, director Amar Kaushik has disclosed that he confronted the actor about his remarks.

Speaking with Zoom, Aparshakti mentioned a PR story surrounding the credit dispute and remarked, “I might say something, if I do, it will spread far and wide.” In his recent interview with the same media outlet, Amar Kaushik shared that the entire cast had a group call where they joked about the situation.

After his statement, Amar reached out to Aparshakti and asked him, “What was that supposed to mean?” To which, Aparshakti replied that he hadn’t meant it in the way it sounded. Later on, Aparshakti explained to Amar, “I usually laugh when I say things like that, but this time, I simply forgot to laugh and it turned serious.

When the movie maker inquired about his intentions or meaning, Apar responded, “I was merely conversing, and her line of questioning just didn’t strike me as funny.” The director of Bhediya also noted that Aparshakti Khurana is sincere and straightforward, expressing his feelings openly if anything bothers him.

In the interview, the filmmaker stated, “He won’t hold it inside. He was essentially saying, ‘I am stuck in the middle of the fan feud.’ Kaushik, during the same conversation, labeled those unusual discussions as “fan-generated disputes” and claimed that it significantly contributed to the movie’s popularity. Yet, the discussion remains heated as audiences can’t agree on who deserves credit for the film’s success between Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor.

In the movie Stree 2, it seems like Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana each carried a significant part of the film. However, I’m curious if the PR statement made by Khurana accurately reflects the collective effort or if the entire movie deserves recognition.
