Stree 2: Rajkummar Rao's impromptu Calm Down song cost Rs 25 Lakhs? Abhishek Banerjee spills the beans

As a seasoned movie enthusiast with a knack for spotting rising stars and following their journeys, I must say that Abhishek Banerjee’s career trajectory is nothing short of inspiring! His humble beginnings to his current stardom, marked by the monumental success of Stree 2, is a testament to perseverance and talent.

The movie “Stree 2,” starring Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana, is currently causing a stir at the box office. Amar Kaushik’s first directorial project has garnered favorable reviews from both audiences and critics. In a recent interview, Abhishek Banerjee shared that one of Rajkummar Rao’s impromptu performances during Rema’s song Calm Down ended up costing the producers around Rs 25 lakhs due to the necessity of acquiring the rights. You can read more about it here!

In an interview with Fever FM, Vedaa’s actor openly talked about one of his on-the-spot changes and shared insights regarding Rao’s. He disclosed that Rao came up with the “Low Low Low” part in the song Calm Down, which necessitated the producers to buy the rights for approximately 25 million rupees. Banerjee commented, “This was the most costly improvisation in history.”

In another chat with News18’s Showsha, Banerjee revealed that soon after the monumental success of Stree 2, he immediately started to get offers for lead roles.

Abhishek shared that he hadn’t gotten many opportunities before, with the ones he did receive being limiting in scope and low on budget. But in just a week, he’s received three new offers! He’s now planning to go over them to make his next moves, emphasizing that this sudden change is quite meaningful. At 39 years old, Abhishek openly acknowledged that achieving commercial success holds great importance for him and that he truly cherishes it.

After considering the success of Stree 2, Abhishek commented that the difficulty with Stree lies in its massive popularity. As a follow-up, it has already formed bonds with viewers, making it hard to predict its influence. Even though he believed the movie would be important, he underestimated how big an impact it would have, similar to Godzilla’s level of fame.

Banerjee shared that he prefers not to come off as too intellectual and has always appreciated the compliments from his friends who’ve nicknamed him “commercial” since his theater days. His enjoyment lies equally in working on commercial films and entertaining audiences, just as much as in projects like Stolen. He made it clear that he cannot tolerate dull acting roles.

In a different conversation with The Indian Express, Banerjee (the actor portraying Jana in the Maddock supernatural universe) talked about Stree 3. He explained that even though the third part will need some time to be created, it won’t necessitate as much time compared to the gap between Stree and Stree 2. With the recent success of the latest release, Banerjee emphasized that Stree 3 won’t take six years to finalize.

Additionally, Banerjee shared that certain portions of the screenplay are already complete, suggesting that the movie will likely unfold as an impressive, sweeping tale. Moreover, he showed great enthusiasm about getting back on set.

As a die-hard fan of the Stree series, here I am, eagerly awaiting any updates on Stree 3! Aparshakti Khurana, the talented actor who plays Bittu, has shared that the blueprint for this anticipated sequel was set up quite some time ago. Now, all we can do is keep our fingers crossed and hope that director Amar Kaushik and producer Dinesh Vijan will soon unveil more details about this exciting project!

At the unveiling of Stree 2’s trailer, Vijan previously announced a third installment, likening Stree 2 to a “mothership.” He revealed that the movie will tackle questions left unanswered from the first film and clarify several connections. Additionally, Vijan shared that the script for Stree 3 is already complete, which means the time between productions will likely be shorter.

Talking about Banerjee’s work front, he will be next seen in Suriya 44.
