Street Fighter 6 Hits Capcom’s Platinum Status with 4.4 Million Units Sold

Capcom’s most recent fighting game, Street Fighter 6, has now reached the esteemed Platinum level, joining the likes of Monster Hunter and Resident Evil. By December 31, 2024, this game had sold an impressive 4.4 million units, with an additional 4 million copies sold by last September on Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC platforms.

The launch of this game received widespread positive reviews as fans and critics alike appreciated its updated graphics and innovative new approach. However, nobody anticipated Ken’s character design to be that of a homeless man; yet, we can’t help but adore it. This title is also the first in the series to leverage Capcom’s own RE Engine, offering better performance, more stunning visuals, reliable rollback netcode, and complete crossplay compatibility.

A significant milestone for Street Fighter 6 is reaching 4.4 million sales, but it needs to sell more to outdo Street Fighter V’s total of 7.7 million copies, which was achieved by the fifth game up until December 2024, despite various disputes surrounding it.

Titles by Capcom that have achieved Platinum status also include Monster Hunter: World, which has seen 21.3 million sales since it debuted in January 2018. As the release of Monster Hunter: Wilds is imminent, Capcom anticipates even more substantial financial benefits from their eagerly awaited franchise.

At present, Street Fighter 6 is experiencing great success. The game has never been more enjoyed by players, with even greater excitement building as Mai Shiranui approaches her arrival within the next few days. Additionally, Elena from Street Fighter III: New Generation will be added to the roster this coming spring.
