Subliminal Projects’ ‘Visual Languages: Vistas’ Exhibition Is a Love Letter to California

The multi-purpose art gallery known as Subliminal Projects in Los Angeles has recently unveiled a fresh exhibition entitled “Visual Languages: Vistas“. This exhibit draws inspiration from California’s diverse landscapes and communities, as depicted by various artists. Notably, this show is the third installment of Subliminal Projects’ Visual Languages series, and it has been curated in partnership with Coates & Scarry, a curatorial team based in the UK.

The state of California is well-known worldwide for its cultural and geographical boundaries, often symbolizing global concepts of beauty, liberty, and potential opportunities. Home to over 39 million people, it encompasses six major types of ecosystems: marine, freshwater, forest, grassland, desert, and tundra. Throughout history, the intricate connections between these diverse environments and urban areas have sparked profound artistic creativity.

The artists involved are Aliyah Salmon, Brian Lotti, Dean Coates, Deedee Cheriel, Devon Tsuno, Ed Ruscha, Eric Diehl, Esther Pearl Watson, Evan Hecox, Isaac Pelayo, Jason Filipow, Jen Hitchings, Joan Nelson, Lars Bergquist, Matt McCormick, Myrna Quiñonez, Ruhee Maknojia, Seonna Hong, Seth Armstrong, Shepard Fairey, Terra Keck, Tyler Krasowski and Vince Palacios. Put simply, they are Aliyah Salmon, Brian Lotti, et al. (meaning “and others”).

Until April 5th, the exhibition titled “Visual Languages: Vistas” serves as an affectionate tribute to California following the Los Angeles fires. A percentage of the show’s earnings will be contributed to the LA Arts Community Fire Relief Fund, which aids artists and art workers in times of crisis. Feel free to peruse some pieces displayed here, and visit the exhibition at the address provided below.
