Subtle Cameron Boyce Tribute Featured in Adam Sandler’s ‘Happy Gilmore 2’

In the movie “Happy Gilmore 2“, Adam Sandler managed to make a subtle nod towards his old screen son, Cameron Boyce.

At age 20, Boyce passed away peacefully in his sleep due to a seizure caused by an existing health issue, as reported by a family representative back in 2019. He gained recognition for his performances in shows such as Descendants, Jessie, and Mrs. Fletcher.

Fans of Disney swiftly recognized Boyce’s homage in the latest Happy Gilmore sequel, expressing their heartfelt responses on social media. Early in the movie, after Sandler’s character is depicted walking up to a golf registration desk, the scene transitions to two individuals seated behind the counter, engrossed in a television program. It is at this point that viewers catch a fleeting glimpse of Boyce on the screen, seeming to be from an episode of his Disney Channel series Jessie, which he starred in as Luke Ross from 2011 to 2015.

“User A commented, ‘Adam Sandler paid tribute to the young Cameron Boyce (who played his son in Grown Ups) in Happy Gilmore 2, and I can’t help but tear up.’ User B added, ‘It’s only 10am and I’m already crying over Adam Sandler including a cameo of Cameron Boyce in Happy Gilmore 2.'”

Back in 2010, I shared the screen with a fellow actor for the first time in the movie “Grown Ups.” In this film, my character was Keithie Feder, one of Sandler’s Lenny’s sons. Fast forward to 2013, and we both returned to our roles in the sequel, “Grown Ups 2.”

Previously, Sandler had expressed his admiration for the actor upon his passing, posting on social media, “He was too young, too charming, and too hilarious. He was simply the kindest, most gifted, and most honorable individual I knew. I adored him. He always showed concern for his loved ones and cared deeply about our world. Thank you, Cameron, for the joy you brought us. There was so much more to come. Our hearts are shattered. Sending our heartfelt sympathies to your incredible family.

Additionally, he paid homage to Boyce by listing him in the acknowledgments of his 2020 production “Hubie Halloween”. Unfortunately, the actor was set to feature in the film but passed away prior to its release.
