Warning: SPOILERS for Suits LA episodes 12-13, “Angry Sylvester” and “Freedom.”
After the cancellation of “Suits LA,” there are numerous enhancements that won’t be implemented on the show. However, episode 12 suggests one intriguing future scenario that viewers will regretfully never witness. A contentious aspect of the recently ended spinoff was the cast of “Suits LA,” which many fans of the original series found harder to accept compared to the characters they were familiar with. Additionally, the new characters contributed to the poor ratings of “Suits LA” due to the fragmented narrative style used in the show.
Unlike many spinoffs where characters from the original show occasionally appear in expanded media, Suits LA followed suit, with both Harvey Specter and Louis Litt making appearances throughout its first season. Specifically, Harvey was present across multiple episodes, helping to resolve a major plot point for the season, while Louis made a solitary appearance in episode 12 – an occurrence that underscores what fans will miss out on now that Suits LA has been canceled after just one season.
Suits LA Episode 12 Reveals Where Louis And Harvey Stand With Each Other Now
Louis Discusses Their Relationship At Length With Stuart
In the show Suits, both Harvey and Louis stand out for numerous reasons, but what truly sets them apart is their unique bond. Initially, they made a formidable pair as adversaries, yet they excel even more as friends. So, it’s comforting to learn from episode 12 of Suits LA that Harvey and Louis have managed to maintain their friendship. Admittedly, Louis can be somewhat secretive about such matters.
In about half of episode 12 of “Suits LA,” titled “Angry Sylvester,” Louis expresses his frequent frustrations with Harvey, pointing out instances such as Harvey shoving him into a table, dating his sister, and criticizing Litt’s “mankini” from season 9 of Suits. However, despite these professional tiffs, Louis admits that he turns to Harvey first when dealing with personal issues. This revelation could potentially pave the way for something fans have eagerly anticipated since the announcement of Louis and Harvey’s cameos.
Harvey Specter And Louis Litt Could Have Appeared Together In Suits LA Season 2
They Both Have Connections To What Is Now A Single Firm
As a devoted film enthusiast, I must admit that the initial criticism of Suits LA’s murky and perplexing plotline was a concern. However, once Harvey Specter and Louis Litt graced our screens, those issues seemed to dissipate. The Pellegrini narrative gained momentum and clarity with Harvey’s involvement, and the encounter between Louis Litt and Stuart Lane was straightforward from the get-go. Crucially, creator Aaron Korsh has a wealth of experience with these characters. Therefore, witnessing their dynamic interactions with Ted and Stuart in Suits LA season 2 would have been the most satisfying treat for fans of the series.
The path for their interactions was already well-established. Harvey and Ted have known each other for a long time, and now Stuart has a connection with Louis too. In the finale of Suits LA season 1, Ted, Stuart, and Samantha choose to proceed with the merger they had initially abandoned at the start of the series. The possibility that characters from both Suits and Suits LA might one day collaborate on a case grew significantly in the last episode. Unfortunately, the showrunners had compelling reasons not to bring Harvey and Louis together again while they still could.
Why Suits LA Never Reuniting Harvey And Louis Worked For The Series
Less Had To Be Considered More In Suits LA Season 1
In order to ensure a smooth transition for both new and returning characters, it was crucial for Suits LA to proceed cautiously when blending their narratives. While Louis Litt’s character arc from the original Suits gets a refresh, so does Harvey Specter’s in his Suits LA episodes. It seems more logical to develop these characters independently first before merging them into a significant joint storyline.
Additionally, it was crucial for Suits LA to focus on building its own characters, such as Ted and Stuart, before introducing too many familiar faces that might overshadow them. The dynamic duo of Harvey Specter and Louis Litt were undeniably captivating, but Suits LA needed to devote more screen time to character development so Ted and Stuart could compete for the limelight alongside their senior counterparts. Though fans may have yearned for a grand reunion, both Harvey and Louis had their moments to shine – with Harvey donning the Batman costume and Louis having an entire episode to steal the scene. This farewell wasn’t the most ideal, but it was far from the worst send-off that two beloved characters could receive.
