Additionally, collaborating with Dean DeBlois, our talented director, along with this fantastic team, only adds to the experience. I initially entered this field with the hope of creating enchanting narratives that could touch people’s hearts and potentially make a difference in their lives.

In a chat with The Direct, Butler shared details about the upcoming live-action adaptation and explained that it will be noticeably more frightening than its animated counterpart.

For numerous years, I produced three films in the same series, and I often pondered, ‘What if these stories were true? What if we were actual characters, living alongside real dragons?’ In a remarkable twist of fate, we got an opportunity to bring this idea to life. One significant difference I believe lies here: when a dragon exhales fire over a group of genuine Vikings fleeing, the fear becomes tangible and immediate. With animation, there’s a level of detachment, but with reality, it feels much more personal and engrossing.
