Being a frequent viewer of both “Veep” and “Succession,” I was particularly excited about this project, given its pedigree. The fact that it was created by Jon Brown, who has contributed significantly to both shows, only heightened my anticipation.

I can’t help but feel a tinge of regret that the series was ordered amid the 2023 Hollywood strikes and that production delays may have played a role in its cancellation. It would have been fascinating to see how “The Franchise” would have evolved beyond its pilot episode.

In the grand scheme of things, I understand HBO’s decision, as they must prioritize their resources wisely. However, in my humble opinion, the loss of this series is akin to a supervillain snatching away our beloved superhero movie franchise – a bitter pill to swallow for fans like me who appreciate biting satire and clever parody.

On a lighter note, perhaps “The Franchise” will find a new home where its unique blend of humor and industry critique can thrive. After all, it seems that even in the face of adversity, superheroes always manage to find a way to come back stronger than ever!

This includes Armando Iannucci, the creator of ‘Veep’, as well as Sam Mendes, director of ‘Skyfall’. Notably, ‘The Franchise’ was conceived by Jon Brown, who has worked on shows like ‘Veep’ and ‘Succession’.

It’s a pleasure to have collaborated with the exceptionally skilled team involved in The Franchise, including Sam Mendes, Jon Brown, Armando Iannucci, and that group of incredibly funny actors. This intriguing production offered an unprecedented glimpse into the making of a burgeoning superhero movie titled “Tecto: Eye of the Storm.” The show brilliantly satirized the superhero genre and Hollywood’s relentless pursuit of intellectual properties, serving as a refreshing critique of today’s entertainment landscape.
