As a long-time Superman fan and avid gamer with a soft spot for DC Comics, I couldn’t help but feel a surge of excitement upon reading James Gunn‘s latest update on the upcoming “Superman” film. Having grown up with the Man of Steel being a constant presence in my life, both in comics and on the big screen, it’s truly heartening to see such a passionate and dedicated team bringing this iconic character to life once again.
James Gunn provided yet another update on Superman — previously known as Superman: Legacy.
The film featuring David Corenswet as the lead and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane is nearing completion of filming following the conclusion of a six-week shoot in Cleveland this week.
The head of DC Studios, along with the director, has been updating their followers on Twitter about their experiences in Cleveland during filming, expressing their gratitude for the city’s warm welcome.
In Cleveland, we’ve spent the last six weeks filming with great pleasure. When we initially scouted here about a year ago and saw Terminal Tower illuminated with Superman’s colors, I sensed your unique charm. As I strolled through your streets, people expressed their gratitude for our presence numerous times, not just once or twice, but countless times.
I’ve had the privilege of working on some amazing film sets, and let me tell you, the background actors truly brought joy and humor to the production. Their enthusiasm after takes was contagious and served as a reminder for us industry insiders of why we dedicate ourselves to making movies in the first place.
A fan inquired about the completion of the filming to Gunn who replied, “We’ve got around two more weeks left.” He continued, “It’s been an extensive shoot, but we’re nearing the finish line!”
Production on Superman started in February, making it the initial film produced under the leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran at DC Studios.
The upcoming movie marks the longest gap since the last solo Superman film. It portrays the superhero grappling with his alien roots and human upbringing based on the synopsis.
Nicholas Hoult is going to play the part of Lex Luthor, and Milly Alcock from “House of the Dragon” will assume the role of Supergirl.
The following actors join the main cast: Wendell Pierce as Perry White (formerly known as Wendell Pierce as Wendell PIercé portrays Perry White), Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Terence Rosemore as Otis, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, and María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer.
Superman is set to hit theaters on July 11, 2025.
