As a gamer and comic book fan, I’m beyond excited to see Isabela Merced bring Hawkgirl to life in James Gunn’s new Superman movie! Donning the iconic suit and helmet must have been an incredible experience for her, and her enthusiasm is contagious. The DC Universe is in for a treat with this talented actress leading the charge.
Actress Isabela Merced, starring as Hawkgirl in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film, shared her excitement about donning the iconic character’s costume on set. Known for her role among numerous DC Comics legends, including David Corenswet’s Superman, this movie aims to restart the DC Universe. Filming is ongoing with consistent leaks of new sets images appearing online. Merced remained tight-lipped about the film’s storyline but gushed over the universe that James Gunn is building and her pride in being a part of it.
In the most recent feature by Empire Magazine, Isabela Merced is the highlighted figure, and she shared insights about her impending role in James Gunn’s production of “Superman.” During the conversation, the journalist attempted to extract plot details regarding the movie, but Merced refrained from disclosing any information out of apprehension for James Gunn’s potential reprimand, playfully teasing, “I’d better not!”
“I can feel James Gunn’s eyes boring into the back of my head.”
Merced kept mum about the storyline, but her excitement was palpable as she shared her experience of embodying Hawkgirl in the upcoming film. She delved into the details of wearing the costume during filming. Though leaked photos from set depicted an altered version of the suit, Merced confirmed that she had already donned Hawkgirl’s renowned helmet for the production, and fans can expect to see it in the final product.
In truth, deep down I’m simply an enthusiast at heart. I identify strongly with this aspect of myself. Each time I don the super suit, my inner geek is thrilled beyond measure. To me, it’s the epitome of coolness.
Isabela Merced Also Stars in Alien: Romulus
As a gamer and a fan of major franchises, I can tell you that I’ve had the privilege of working with some big names in Hollywood. One of my most memorable experiences was starring in “Transformers: The Last Knight,” which really kicked off my career in the industry. I’ve also joined Sony’s “Madame Web” project and am excited to be a part of that.
“There was not a point where I was just used to it! It is just terrifying all around.”
Merced found the Xenomorphs in “Alien: Romulus” petrifying, but admitted that the monsters in her upcoming TV project for HBO, titled “The Last of Us,” were even more terrifying. In this new role, Merced will portray Dina, a close friend of Ellie (Bella Ramsay), and they embark on a quest to locate the Washington Liberation Front together. Merced confessed that she had played the games as preparation for her part and concurred that the infected creatures in “The Last of Us” were more frightening than Xenomorphs.
Among them are those who are less intelligent, then come the Clickers, and in the game there’s also the Stalkers. However, the thought of the Bloaters is absolutely terrifying! I’m getting anxious just imagining it.
The movie “Superman” is set to be released in theaters on July 11, 2025. On the other hand, the film titled “Alien: Romulus” is scheduled to premier in theaters on August 16, 2024.
