In an interesting twist, the actors from the TV show “Supernatural” are joining forces on another series called “The Boys”. Although they seem quite different, both shows share a common origin, being created by Eric Kripke. Kripke, who is famous for creating “Supernatural”, also worked on it for the first five seasons. Notably, he has been collaborating with many of his former actors in “The Boys”. For the final season, Kripke is planning to bring together the main trio from “Supernatural”.
Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins have officially joined the cast of “The Boys” for Season 5. Notably, their co-star from “Supernatural,” Jensen Ackles, is anticipated to reprise his role as well. It’s important to note that Ackles and Padalecki played Dean and Sam Winchester respectively in “Supernatural.” Meanwhile, Collins portrayed the angel Castiel, who gained prominence in the fourth season and remained a favorite among fans, ultimately becoming a series regular until the final season. The announcement was made through an Instagram video shared by “The Boys” account, featuring all three actors from “Supernatural,” which can be viewed below.
Information about who Padalecki or Collins will portray, whether they’ll interact with Ackles’ Soldier Boy, or if they’ll appear together is yet to be revealed. However, it’s been confirmed that both actors are adding their names to the list of Supernatural cast members who have made appearances on The Boys. Some notable examples include Jim Beaver, known for his role as Bobby Singer, who took on a character named Robert A. Singer with similarities to his Supernatural persona. Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who portrayed John Winchester, father of Sam and Dean, has also been seen in The Boys Season 4 as Joe Kessler.
‘The Boys’ Are Back in Town
The fact that Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins, Jensen Ackles, and Eric Kripke are collaborating once more is an exciting development for fans of the TV series “Supernatural,” which concluded its 15-season journey in November 2020. Since then, Kripke has been engaged with another project, “The Boys.” The final episode of “Supernatural” was affected by numerous external factors due to filming constraints during the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving fans somewhat unsatisfied. However, while these stars have pursued different roles post-“Supernatural,” such as Padalecki in “Walker” and Collins in “Gotham Knights,” there has been a lingering desire among fans for a “Supernatural” reunion for five years. It’s not Season 16, but with Kripke now working on “The Boys,” it presents the next best opportunity.
Currently, many people are focused on “The Boys.” The finale of Season 4, where Homelander took over the government and targeted those he perceived as threats to him, has had a stronger impact than it initially did when it was first broadcast. This is because of recent developments at Amazon, where CEO Jeff Bezos has been making substantial changes to the editorial team at The Washington Post. These changes have led to long-time editor David Shipley stepping down, and some believe this is due to Bezos wanting more creative control to lessen criticism of the Trump administration. Given that “The Boys” is a sharp satire that directly criticizes the administration, it will be intriguing to observe if the creative vision of Kripke, along with co-executives Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, remains unaffected by higher-ups.
It’s anticipated that The Boys Season 5 will be released in the year 2026, so fans will need to be patient to discover how the tale ends.
