Surprise! A Jurassic World Fan Favorite Just Showed Up in Animated Spinoff

As a dedicated fan who has spent countless hours immersed in the thrilling world of Jurassic Park and Jurassic World, I can confidently say that the latest developments in Netflix’s animated series, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous and its sequel, Jurassic World: Chaos Theory, have been nothing short of exhilarating! The second season of Chaos Theory, which dropped on October 15, continues the gripping adventures of the Nublar Six survivors.

If you’re a big fan of Jurassic Park and Jurassic World, it’s probably no surprise that you’ve been keeping up with the expanding storyline. This is happening not only in the latest movies but also in Netflix’s animated series Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous and its sequel Jurassic World: Chaos Theory.

In a fresh take, let me rephrase that statement: The second season of Chaos Theory, released on October 15, follows the mature escapades of the surviving members from “The Nublar Six” – Darius (Paul-Mikél Williams), Kenji (Ryan Potter), Yaz (Kausar Mohammed), Ben (Sean Giambrone), Sammy (Raini Rodriguez) and Brooklynn (Kiersten Kelly). As they journey across the world, their mission is to uncover the identity of the person behind an illegal dinosaur trading operation orchestrated by a mysterious figure called the Broker.

As a thrilled fan myself, I recently joined a Zoom chat with SYFY WIRE to delve into Scott Kreamer’s insights about the reappearance of a beloved Jurassic World Dominion character in the current season. Additionally, he shared an intriguing dinosaur twist that links back to the Malta sequence featured in Dominion!

As a die-hard Jurassic World fan, I’m thrilled to share some exciting updates! The title for the upcoming movie has been revealed as “Jurassic World 4: Rebirth.” Here’s a sneak peek at what we can expect.

The Broker in Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Is Dichen Lachman’s Soyona Santos from Dominon

In the Malta segment of the movie Dominion, when Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) venture to rescue kidnapped Maisie Lockwood from an underground dinosaur market, a new character named Soyona Santos (Dichen Lachman) is introduced. She’s a mysterious yet highly skilled smuggler who commands a pack of laser-guided Atrociraptors for combat purposes. Apart from trading dinosaurs to the wealthiest buyers, Santos secretly carries out tasks assigned by Biosyn’s Dr. Lewis Dodgson (Campbell Scott).

In Season 2 of “Chaos Theory”, set prior to the occurrences in “Dominion”, it comes to light that the individual attempting to eliminate the Nublar Six, who built a strong bond with Brooklynn, is no one other than Soyona Santos.

Kreamer shared that he and his team were captivated by Santos’ performances in the early versions of “Dominion”, stating, “She stands out significantly, even with her limited screen time.” He further added, “Both of us felt, ‘If we can have her on the series, it’s a must.’ Director Colin Trevorrow and executive producer of Chaos Theory were also supportive and made efforts to secure Santos for the show.

Thus, Lachman resumed speaking to Santos, who turned out to be a formidable guide for Brooklyn. Eager to penetrate and dismantle the worldwide dinosaur trafficking operation, Brooklyn persevered in staying with Santos.

Kreamer stated that she often doesn’t work directly with the main actor but was still astounded by her talent. He described her as incredibly kind and generous in her performances. She truly shone and was more than willing to participate, even pronouncing dinosaur names and offering to provide animation references for the team. Her contributions significantly enhanced the production. Additionally, Kreamer mentioned that Colin had shared a backstory for the character with them, which they incorporated into the show.

Chaos Theory introduces important member of the Atrociraptors pack

Previously noted, Santos possesses a group of trained Atrociraptors, which she transports to Malta under the supervision of her henchman, Rainn Delacourt (Scott Haze). The intended destination for these dinosaurs was Riyadh. Unfortunately, an undercover operation by French intelligence, headed by agent Barry Sembène (Omar Sy), dismantles the black market and thwarts Santos’ plans, causing her to lose not only her operation but also her pack of four dinosaurs: Ghost, Tiger, Panthera, and Red.

In the initial season, the series Chaos Theory presented a group of three trained Atrociraptors: Ghost, Panthera, and Tiger, who were under the control of a woman known as The Handler (portrayed by Sumalee Montano). This ominous woman with her whistle-happy demeanor was employed by the Broker to eliminate the “Nublar Six,” but unfortunately, she failed in her mission.

In Season 2, Red is revealed to be a cunning predator living in one of Santos’ hidden dinosaur research facilities in Africa. Throughout the season, it can be seen roaming the Nublar area alongside a genetically modified Baryonyx. However, the means by which it travels from Africa and joins the Handler’s group of three dinosaurs is left unexplained at the end of the season.

Kreamer shared that they’ve been eager to share the backstory of how the pack of Atrociraptors came to be throughout the series. He added that the anticipation in Season 1 about where Red was would build up, and having him make a dramatic entrance was quite thrilling. Notably, Colin is present during scene breakings and script readings, so everything was approved by him as well.
