As a lifestyle expert with a deep appreciation for resilience and courage, I am constantly inspired by individuals who defy societal norms to create their unique paths in life. Sushmita Sen is one such woman who embodies strength, grace, and unconventional wisdom. Her journey as a single mother to her two beautiful daughters, Alisah and Renee, is a testament to the fact that love knows no boundaries or traditional definitions.
15-year-old Alisah, Sushmita Sen’s youngest daughter, is now a teenager! The actress can’t contain her joy. Adopting Alisah in 2000, Sushmita considers her the most incredible blessing from God. On Instagram, she posted a series of previously unseen photos featuring herself and Alisah, starting from her baby days to recent ones. We’re sure you wouldn’t want to miss these priceless memories.
Reflecting on my cherished memories, it appears that the initial two sets of images portray Alisah during her newborn and self-feeding toddler stages. The photo carousel then showcases grown-up Alisah enjoying a vacation with her beloved sister Renee and our dear mother. Sushmita Sen affectionately captioned this heartwarming post, “Forever in love! Happy 15th Birthday Shona @alisahsen47 Here’s to you…God’s greatest gift & the joy of my existence!!”

For those who may not know, Alisah is attending a boarding school in Switzerland at this time. Remarkably, Sushmita chose to raise her two adopted daughters on her own without marriage. Last year during an interview with ETimes, she challenged the common misconceptions about single mothers. She stated, “If they grow up without a father, it creates an imbalance. However, fathers are significant, but just as everything else in life, you don’t miss what you never had. The perception is unique.”
During an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Sushmita Sen was questioned if her daughters ever long for a paternal figure. Swiftly, she clarified that they do not, as children can only yearn for something they previously knew, and her daughters never had a father in the first place.
Sen stated, “When I propose the idea of marriage to them, they might react with surprise, saying something like, ‘Really? Why would I need a father?’ But I may be seeking a husband, it could have no connection to you whatsoever! We often find humor in that situation.” Sushmita mentions that Renee and Alisah can rely on her father and their grandfather when they require a fatherly figure. “That is all they need,” she says.
In the year 2000, the 48-year-old woman officially became Renee’s mother, her eldest daughter. On the professional side, Sushmita has taken a break from films since her role in No Problem in 2010. Nevertheless, she has made a mark in the digital platform and starred in numerous productions such as Aarya and Taali.
