A 22-year-old resident of Los Angeles stands accused of both murder and burglary, following his alleged involvement in the fatal attack of a longtime employee of American Idol and her husband, during an attempted home invasion in an affluent district of LA last week.
This week, Robin Kaye and her spouse Thomas Deluca, both aged 70, were tragically discovered dead from gunshot wounds during a routine wellness check at their Encino residence on Monday. Robin Kaye is widely recognized as the music supervisor for the popular talent show “American Idol,” where she has been in charge of obtaining permission to use or perform songs on the program for the last 16 years.
Earlier today, Raymond Boodarian was indicted on three counts: two for murder and one for residential burglary, as reported by KABC in Los Angeles. He stood before a judge this afternoon who scheduled his next court appearance for August 20th. Currently, Boodarian is being detained without bail. According to Lt. Guy Golan of the Los Angeles Police Department, Boodarian is accused of illegally entering the property in Encino, then engaging in a fatal struggle with the couple upon their return home and shooting them.
Investigators, who are currently analyzing evidence to determine if there was a potential reason behind the double homicide, suspect that the couple was murdered on July 10. The LAPD received two reports about a potential burglary, where a man was observed climbing the 8-foot-tall security fence of the couple’s property. Since their home on White Oak Avenue had a high wall which prevented officers from entering initially, a helicopter inspection did not reveal any signs of wrongdoing at the property, as stated by the department earlier this week. It wasn’t until four days later that the bodies of the couple were found.
During the investigation at the location, no evidence of forced entry or disturbance was found. However, it’s now suspected that the intruder managed to get into the house through an unsecured door. The victims came home while this individual was already in their house, leading to a confrontation. Tragically, the suspect fatally shot the victims, and then escaped on foot from the property.
In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, American Idol representatives expressed that Kaye had been a cherished and integral part of the show’s family since 2009, and was deeply admired by everyone she interacted with. They added that Robin will continue to be remembered fondly, and they extend their deepest condolences to her family and friends during this challenging period.
Apart from Lip Sync Battle, After the Sunset, The Singing Bee, and Q’Viva! The Chosen, Kaye has also worked as a music supervisor. Her career in the music industry started on the record company and artist management side, where she worked for Waylon Jennings in Nashville, followed by MTM Records in artist development. Later, she moved to the film and TV licensing department at MCA-Universal Records before heading the music licensing division at PolyGram Records. In 2000, Kaye established her own company, SyncroniCity, where she represented artists including Andrea Bocelli, Kenny Loggins, Lang Lang, Donny Osmond, and Steven Bishop.
