Sydney Sweeney, Amanda Seyfried to Star in ‘The Housemaid’ Adaptation for Director Paul Feig

As a seasoned gamer who’s spent countless hours immersed in thrilling narratives and intricate storylines, I can’t help but feel a surge of anticipation at the news of Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried joining forces for ‘The Housemaid’. The prospect of these two talented actresses bringing Millie and Nina to life is nothing short of exhilarating.

Actresses Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried are about to join forces for a film adaption of “The Housemaid,” directed by Paul Feig.

Lionsgate is involved with the project, having sealed a deal with Sweeney and currently in the final stages of negotiations with Seyfried. Feig will direct from Rebecca Sonnenshine’s script, which is adapted from Freida McFadden’s top-selling novel.

The story revolves around Millie (Sweeney), who secures employment as a housekeeper for the affluent duo, Nina (Seyfried) and Andrew. However, she uncovers some perilous mysteries about them once she realizes they harbor hidden secrets.

In this production, Hidden Pictures’ Todd Lieberman takes a role, accompanied by Feig and Laura Fischer from Feigco. Additionally, Sweeney, Seyfried, McFadden, and Alex Young serve as executive producers.

Carly Kleinbart Elter is taking charge of “The Housemaid” at Hidden Pictures, whereas Chelsea Kujawa and Erin Jones-Wesley are managing it for Lionsgate. Robert Melnik handled the negotiations with the studio on their part.

Adam Fogelson, chair of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, expressed his excitement about adding ‘The Housemaid’ to our upcoming lineup. A fantastic director, a stellar cast, and an exceptional script derived from a remarkable book make for an excellent foundation. My past collaborations with Paul and Amanda have been truly impressive, and I’m equally impressed by the talent and intrigue Sydney brings to the table.

Erin Westerman, co-president of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, commented, “The Housemaid has been a sensational success, spending over a year on the New York Times Bestsellers list, selling millions of copies, and gracing numerous critics’ favorite lists. One of the joys of reading the book was envisioning the characters, and Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried are ideal for Millie and Nina – they both possess an air of mystery, complexity, and a remarkable ability to embody characters that don’t immediately reveal themselves. We’re excited to pair them with Paul Feig, who we collaborated with on A Simple Favor and its sequel, and who has a proven talent for crafting tales featuring compelling female leads.

More to come.
