Tangled’s Zachary Levi Reveals Who He Thinks Could Play Flynn Rider In A Live-Action Remake, And And I Could See It

As a dedicated fan of Disney animations, I’ve always been in awe of their ability to bring fairy tales to life on the silver screen. One of my all-time favorites is “Tangled,” which I can stream anytime with my Disney+ subscription. Recently, there have been several live-action adaptations of these beloved stories, such as “Beauty and The Beast,” “The Lion King,” and the upcoming “Moana.”

Disney has always been celebrated for its beloved animated blockbusters, many of which are based on classic fairy tales. One of these hit productions is “Tangled,” now easily accessible with a Disney+ subscription. More recently, Disney has brought several of these projects to life through live-action adaptations such as “Beauty and the Beast,” “The Lion King,” and the upcoming “Moana.” Actor Zachary Levi has shared his thoughts on who could bring Flynn Rider to life in a potential live-action remake, and I completely agree.

There’s been ongoing discussion about which movie, “Frozen” or “Tangled,” is superior. However, it appears that a live-action adaptation of the latter film is likely to materialize at some point. Zachary Levi, who voiced Flynn Rider in “Tangled,” spoke with ET Online regarding potential actors for the live-action role. He suggested a well-known figure as a possibility.

He’s landing most roles but not quite becoming Timothée Chalamet. Sadly, I’m not as familiar with the newer generation of actors who might fit that part.

There you have it. While joking about Chalamet’s wildly busy schedule, Levi thinks he has the talent and looks to pull of Flynn Rider’s signature smolder. After all, he and co-star Mandy Moore are a bit too long in the tooth to reprise their roles for a live-action take on Tangled. And between Timothée’s massive star power and his experience singing in projects like Wonka, he’d be a great choice to bring Flynn to life.

Zachary Levi is an accomplished actor who has shone both on stage and in films, including the “Shazam” series where he plays a superhero. However, despite his talents, he may not be the best fit for the role of Flynn due to age differences; Flynn is meant to be around 26, while Levi is 43 in real life. Nevertheless, Levi delivered an iconic voice performance for the 2010 movie “Tangled,” which influenced various short films and a new ride at Disney parks. Timothée Chalamet is a contrasting actor from Levi but has the long hair and acting abilities to bring a unique interpretation of Flynn to life.

As a long-time Disney enthusiast and someone who grew up watching animated classics like Tangled, I can’t help but feel a pang of disappointment every time I hear that a live-action adaptation isn’t in the works yet. But, you know what they say, good things come to those who wait.

As a huge fan of Tangled, if there’s a new movie coming out and someone gets cast to replace Levi and Mandy Moore as the voices of Flynn Rider and Rapunzel respectively, that person will have a tough act to follow. Mandy brought Rapunzel to life with her exceptional voice acting skills and her beautiful singing voice made every musical number come alive. Her vocal talent was a perfect fit for the Disney Princess role.

Disney has not yet announced if a live-action version of “Frozen” will be produced (it’s unclear at this point), but you can currently watch the animated hit on Disney+. In the meantime, take a look at the 2025 movie release dates to make your theater plans for next year.
