Taylor Sheridan Gave Nicole Kidman Her Own Cowboy Hat, And She’s Giving Yellowstone’s Kelly Reilly A Run For Her Money

As a die-hard fan of Taylor Sheridan‘s work, I can’t help but feel exhilarated whenever I think about his latest projects. From the rugged landscapes and intense drama of “Yellowstone” to the gritty realism of “Mayor of Kingstown” and the high-octane action of “Special Ops: Lioness,” Sheridan’s stories have a way of transporting us to new worlds and keeping us on the edge of our seats.

Recently, Taylor Sheridan’s work evokes the image of Westerns in my mind. I visualize the Yellowstone cast wearing cowboy hats and riding horses, determinedly safeguarding their ranch. Yet, series like Mayor of Kingstown and Special Ops: Lioness, which delve into law enforcement and espionage, also promptly cross my mind. Thus, when Nicole Kidman from Lioness shared a picture of a cowboy hat that Sheridan had gifted her, it felt as if two distinct universes merged. And I must confess, she’s giving Kelly Reilly quite a competitive run!

After the news broke that “Special Ops: Lioness” was granted a second season, the cast wasted no time getting back into action. Now, they’re once again donning their tactical clothing to shoot scenes for the series based on the CIA’s Lioness program. Surprisingly, cowboy hats have become a popular addition on set. Despite this seemingly odd choice, showrunner Taylor Sheridan is known for his distinctive style and has provided these hats as a thoughtful gesture for his cast. And let me tell you, Kidman wears her hat exceptionally well.

In the setting of “Yellowstone,” she would blend perfectly. I imagine her engaging in fierce negotiations with Beth over the ranch, much like Nicole Kidman portrays strong businesswomen in modern Westerns or how Reilly excels in wearing power suits akin to those seen in spy thrillers.

Upcoming Yellowstone TV Shows: What’s Ahead For The Series And Upcoming Spinoffs

I’m deeply drawn to the authentic cowboy hats worn by the characters in “Yellowstone.” These hats don’t just accessorize their looks; they embody their unique personalities. For instance, Kayce and Rip consistently wear well-worn hats that suit their rugged personas. In contrast, Beth seldom dons a hat, and when she does, it deviates from the typical cowboy style. Some characters even prefer baseball caps instead of the traditional wide-brimmed headgear.

The “Big Little Lies” actress looks fabulous pairing her white hat with a light blue suit. She’s in character mode, with her wavy up-do reminiscent of her role on the show. Taylor Sheridan is by her side, beaming. It’s plausible that she received this gift while filming for the Paramount+ series. I can only hope that we get to see it on screen.

Fortunately, we have the opportunity to watch the upcoming episodes of “Lioness” and “Yellowstone” within the next year. Currently in production, “Yellowstone,” the popular Western series, is scheduled to air on TV in late 2024 on November 10. I anticipate that “Lioness,” the spy thriller, won’t be too far behind and we can expect it around early 2025.

As we eagerly anticipate the release of Taylor Sheridan’s two highly-anticipated series, it’s been delightful to catch glimpses behind the scenes. Particularly enjoyable have been the lighthearted moments shared by the cast and crew, such as this playful cowboy hat snapshot featuring Nicole Kidman.

I’m excitedly waiting for new developments regarding “Lioness” and “Yellowstone.” In the interim, feel free to revisit Season 1 of the show starring Nicole Kidman and Zoë Saldaña on Paramount+. Don’t forget to check out the first four and a half seasons of Kevin Costner’s iconic Western series on Peacock as well.
