Warning: If you haven’t watched the second last episode of Landman’s first season on Paramount+, there are spoilers ahead, so tread carefully!
In the latest episode of “WolfCamp,” created by Taylor Sheridan, the oilfield drama Landman seems poised to bring about a significant twist with Jon Hamm’s character, Monty Miller, potentially not recovering from his third heart attack and making it through the finale in good health. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Demi Moore’s character, Cami, will take on more screen time with Monty possibly out of the picture, but let’s save that discussion for a later date as we look ahead to the 2025 TV lineup.
Rather than discussing the overall plot, we’ll delve into the unexpected guest appearance in the upcoming episode and the anticipated character introduction that seems to be missing, even with just one episode left. In other words, let’s saddle up and take a closer look at these intriguing elements.
Jerry Jones Is Apparently Friends With Monty And Tommy
Following a lengthy journey to Fort Worth to see Monty in the hospital, where Cami selflessly stays, Tommy entered the oil tycoon’s room only to discover Jerry Jones, noteworthy Dallas Cowboys owner and manager, who seems to have a friendly rapport with both Monty and Tommy. This wasn’t entirely unexpected as it was previously mentioned that Cami addressed him casually as “Jerry.” In such a vast state, it certainly feels like a small world.
As a movie buff, I must say, that wealthy tycoon wasn’t just there for a casual hangout. The brief appearance of Jones on screen was merely to share an inspiring (though perhaps slightly embellished) tale about how much of his achievements were ignited by the love from his family. To quote him directly:
“The passion and support of my loved ones has been the spark that fueled many of my successes.
In my thirties, my daughter studied at Stanford. The distance from Arkansas made me miss her dearly, so I found excuses to travel there and explore potential ventures. We shared an old office in Palo Alto, and she attended classes while I was around. I felt compelled to establish myself out there if I were to spend so much time. So, I moved to Brentwood, about 20-30 miles from San Francisco, purchased approximately 25 plots of land with the intention of building houses. However, I drilled four gas wells instead, which generated enough money in just 18 months to buy the Dallas Cowboys. It turned out that focusing on my kids led me to the love of my life – a newfound passion. Looking back, most of the events that unfolded weren’t part of any plan or strategy; they simply happened along the way, and all I wanted was to spend time with my daughter.
Absolutely, some aspects of Jerry Jones’ origin story in the show have been extended from actual real-world events, but these details were simplified to create a compelling and inspiring narrative for Monty. In essence, Jones conveyed that family should always come first, even if it means sacrificing a job or wealth. However, he also suggested that it’s ideal to find a way where work and wealth can benefit the family, striking a harmonious balance.
Jones persisted in delivering a warning to Monty, using clearer, straightforward language. However, it seems Monty may be beyond the point where he can apply this guidance to his situation.
In the future, you’ll be seated among your associates and lifelong friends, possibly including your children and family, in this room that has been a significant part of your life. The gathering will serve as a testament to the journey you’ve shared together – the triumphs, failures, laughter, and tears. Instead of wishing for more moments under different sunrises, you’ll cherish the time spent with those who have walked this path with you, not just on special occasions like Thanksgiving or Christmas, but every day.
That moment will be a celebration of your life – a culmination of experiences, friendships, and memories that make it worthwhile.
In an unexpected turn of events, Jerry Jones abruptly left the room following his narrative, without any need for additional dialogue. I sometimes wonder if hospital staff in Texas might invite the NFL owner to share his stories with terminally ill patients, despite the apparent dissimilarities. This sudden departure appeared to stir a slight confusion in Monty’s mind, prompting him to inquire about his daughters, who unfortunately were not in the waiting room – it puzzles me that they would be outside with Cami instead of staying in the room like Jones and Tommy.
But Where In The World Is Andy Garcia’s Mystery Character?
Among the major enigmas left unresolved in the debut season of “Landman” is the reason behind the deep-seated rivalry between Ainsley and Cooper, which appears to mirror the evolution of Beth and Jamie’s relationship in “Yellowstone.” However, it seems unlikely that this mystery will be resolved in the remaining episodes. Yet, I strongly believe we urgently need some insight into Andy Garcia’s character, as his introduction has not been shown yet.
It’s possible that we wouldn’t feel as anxious if the news about Garcia’s casting, which was announced in May 2024, hadn’t come out so early. At that time, it was reported that he would play “Galino, a highly competent, influential, and practical character,” implying a significant role in the drama. However, after nine episodes, there’s been no sight of him in the series.
1. After watching the initial episodes of Taylor Sheridan’s Landman, I feel compelled to discuss my preference for Billy Bob Thornton’s main character over Kevin Costner’s Yellowstone ruler.
2. Taylor Sheridan’s Landman is captivating me so far, but there’s one plotline I’m craving more of, and another I could do without.
Two possibilities are worth considering at this juncture. First, it’s plausible that Galino is the hidden leader of the cartel, which Tommy has been trying to steer clear of, and the mysterious deaths linked to the military’s trials might force him to step out from the shadows. Alternatively, Galino’s involvement could be connected to Monty’s demise, causing doubt about Tommy and Rebecca’s advancements in their respective positions. I find it more intriguing if Galino is a cartel boss rather than another wealthy, anxious tycoon, but as long as one of these scenarios unfolds, I hope Garcia didn’t simply abandon the project without anyone noticing.
Could it be possible that Jerry Jones will make an appearance on any future episodes of Yellowstone, given his collaboration with Taylor Sheridan goes beyond their work on Landman? And might we finally catch a glimpse of Andy Garcia in the final episode? The suspense is killing us; all we can do is wait and hope shouting questions at the screen speeds up the process!
