As a seasoned gamer and storyteller with a deep-rooted love for Texas lore, I must say that the trailer for Taylor Sheridan’s Landman has piqued my interest like a well-placed oil rig hits a rich vein of crude. The high-powered ensemble cast, the intriguing plot revolving around the oil business in West Texas, and the thought-provoking dialogue from Jon Hamm have all set my anticipation meter spinning faster than a drill bit on steroids.
The initial teaser for the movie “Landman,” directed by Taylor Sheridan, features an impressive group of actors engaging in intense debates about the oil industry in West Texas
“Jon Hamm, a frequent visitor on the show, expresses astonishment in the video below, saying, ‘The world considers us wicked simply because we offer them something they use daily!'”
“The show ‘Landman’ is a contemporary narrative about chasing wealth in the oil drilling industry. Inspired by the acclaimed 11-episode podcast ‘Boomtown’, produced by Imperative Entertainment and ‘Texas Monthly’, this series offers an upscale/downscale perspective of the hardworking laborers and the wealthy tycoons who are driving a boom so significant, it’s altering our climate, economy, and global politics.” The show is jointly created by Sheridan and Christian Wallace
“The project is centered around oil speculators and individuals known as landmen, who roam around searching for mineral and land rights with the aim of finding oil. Beneath Texas’ soil lies a vast amount of oil, and these people are always on the hunt for it. The story effectively conveys this process, and I find it intriguing to explore how we access the resources that power our cars, lives, planes, and modern world in general.”
The film “Landman” features Billy Bob Thornton, who won an Oscar, and Demi Moore, alongside Ali Larter from “The Last Victim”, Michelle Randolph from “1923”, Jacob Lofland known for “Joker 2”, Kayla Wallace from “When Calls the Heart”, James Jordan recognized from “Yellowstone”, Mark Collie famed for “Nashville”, Paulina Chávez starring in “The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia”. Andy Garcia, known for the “Expendables” franchise, and Michael Peña, famous for “End of Watch”, will make guest appearances
Hamm portrays Monty Miller, a colossal figure in the Texas oil business who shares both personal and professional ties with Tommy Norris (performed by Thornton). Moore takes on the role of Cami, a woman married to another influential oil tycoon from Texas and a friend of Norris
Landman premieres the first of its 10 episodes on Paramount+ on Nov. 17.
