Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1987 Series Streams Free on Tubi Starting June 1

The cartoon that jump-started the franchise is heading to a new streaming home.

The classic “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” animated series from 1987 is now moving to a streaming platform where it will be accessible for viewing starting June 1. Although the initial Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic books by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, published by Mirage Studios, laid the groundwork for the franchise, it was the ’87 animated series that transformed Turtlemania into a cultural sensation.

The show, which first aired in North America on December 28, 1987, was the platform where the distinctive bandannas, catchphrases, and pizza-loving tendencies of the Turtles were introduced. Notably starring the voices of beloved actors like Cam Clarke, Barry Gordon, Rob Paulsen, and the late James Avery in his iconic role as the Shredder, this animated series catapulted the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise into a fresh wave of pop culture fame.

The Heroes in a Half-Shell Remain Popular

For a span of ten seasons, from 1987 to 1996, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles television show produced an impressive total of 193 episodes. This popular animated series is often praised as one of the best ever made and has been revisited in various other TMNT projects like the 2009 crossover special “Turtles Forever”.

The news that the 1987 animated series can now be streamed for free brings significant comfort to fans of the franchise, especially after learning that the scheduled release date for its upcoming feature film on Paramount Pictures has been delayed. Earlier in May, it was announced that the movie had been moved from its original theater release date, which was set for October 9, 2026. Now, fans will have to wait until September 17, 2027 to once again witness the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on the big screen.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be available for streaming on Tubi from June 1.
