Tekken 8 Director Snaps Back at Fan Who Doesn’t Like Anna’s New Look

Anna Williams, a veteran character from the Tekken series, was initially absent from the main cast in Tekken 8. However, it’s been announced that she will join the game as downloadable content later on.

As a devoted admirer, I must admit that there’s been a stir among some fans regarding Anna’s recent redesign, but fear not, for the series director, Katsuhiro Hirada, remains unfazed by it all.

“There will always be people like you.”

In the recent unveiling of Tekken 8, there’s been a fresh appearance for the Anna DLC character, and fans have observed that her signature bob hairstyle has undergone a significant change.

Of course, followers expressed their displeasure over the alterations on Twitter. It’s common behavior online, but Hirada-sensei appeared unfazed by the criticism and shared a quote that took a stand against the critic.

I get where you’re coming from and share your sentiment, as the older design might be more appealing to you. However, please note that existing works of that design are still accessible. I’m not planning on removing them from your reach.

Regardless of your approach, it seems that both the manner in which you voice your opinion and the substance of your argument lack constructiveness, are without merit, and most importantly, fail to show respect towards other Anna fans who are eagerly awaiting her.

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but marvel at Harada’s recent post that has racked up an impressive 44k likes. Yet, it seems he’s far from finished. His active engagement in responding to numerous comments and offering thoughtful rebuttals is truly commendable. He’s been making statements like, “Please refrain from constructing counterarguments based on unfounded presumptions. It merely underscores your superficial principles and lack of intellectual depth,” before gracefully silencing the commentators.

What’s New with Anna?

Anna has consistently been a significant character in the Tekken series, joining the game lineup since its initial release and appearing in all titles except for Tekken 4. Over the years, she’s portrayed as a cunning seductress, known for her distinctive bob hairstyle, which remained unchanged until the latest update.

For context, here’s a look at the incoming Anna Williams for Tekken 8:

It’s true that Bob seems less prominent, while the latest DLC trailer emphasizes more on Anna’s other defining traits such as her provocative costumes and her competitive relationship with her sister, Nina Williams. This highlights Anna as a character in her own right.

In essence, the haircut isn’t the most noteworthy alteration in the character. Similar to numerous other Tekken fighters in this new game, Anna appears to be armed with a bazooka now and has moves that let her pull it out and strike opponents with it. Despite these changes, her overall appearance remains similar to previous versions, and she continues to employ the scissor chop move she’s been using for some time.

If Anna’s default appearance were altered in Tekken, it’s worth noting that players have the ability to customize characters’ skins. It’s possible that Anna can still sport her traditional attire featuring a silk dress and short bob cut as an option. Criticisms about the new look might be unfounded, as they disregard the game’s other customization features.

It’s no wonder Harada just ended up ranting online about it.

Intercept Anna Williams upon her arrival at the game on April 3.

The game “Tekken 8” is accessible to play on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and personal computers (PC).
