‘Terminator Zero’ Trailer: Hero Eiko Battles Cyborg Assassin

As a long-time fan of the Terminator franchise, I must say that my anticipation is reaching new heights with the upcoming Netflix series, Terminator Zero. With its unique blend of live-action and animation, coupled with an impressive voice cast featuring Sonoya Mizuno, Timothy Olyphant, Rosario Dawson, Ann Dowd, and André Holland, this series promises to deliver a fresh take on the iconic storyline.

In the heated conflict between mankind and advanced AI robots, an animated combatant named Eiko, voiced by Sonoya Mizuno, clashes with a lethal cyborg sentinel from tomorrow in the unveiled trailer for Netflix’s Terminator Zero. The sneak peek was made public on Wednesday.

Eiko is being transported to the past to safeguard scientist Malcolm Lee, portrayed by André Holland, while he creates Kokoro – a sophisticated AI system – which could potentially challenge the harmful Skynet.

At some point in the trailer, Eiko warns that if the Terminator reaches Malcolm, the children could be its next victims. As Skynet’s relentless robot assassin pursues Lee, the tension escalates in this Netflix series. The series, penned by Mattson Tomlin of ‘The Batman II’, is scheduled to air on Aug 29, a day also known as “Judgment Day”. Interestingly, it will be competing with ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ on Amazon Prime Video at the same time.

The voice actors for “Terminator Zero” are Timothy Olyphant lending his voice to the Terminator character, Rosario Dawson portraying Kokoro, and Ann Dowd as The Prophet – a wise figure who offers philosophical guidance to the human resistance, guiding survivors through the uncertain future that lies ahead.

Based on a summary provided by the producers, the movie “Terminator Zero” is set in two different timeframes:

The eight-episode anime series, titled Terminator Zero, comes from Production IG in Japan and is helmed by Masashi Kudo as director. This innovative series marks the first time the movie franchise is being animated, introducing fresh characters. Tomlin serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer, while David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger take on executive producer roles for Skydance in this project.

2023 marked the commencement of a multi-year partnership between Skydance Animation and Netflix. Under this agreement, they will collaborate on creating and producing animated films for the streaming platform.
