Creator Damien Leone offers an eagerly-awaited sneak peek at the upcoming movie in the gory series featuring Art the Clown.
In a video shared by 3C Films on May 29th, during an interview at Texas Frightmare 2025, Leone hinted about Terrifier 4. When asked for any sneak peeks, he said, “Well, I’ve used this term a lot, but it’s going to be spectacular. It won’t let you down… The opening fifteen minutes of the film will delve into Art’s background.
In 2013, I first encountered this chilling slasher character in the anthology horror film “All Hallows’ Eve,” brilliantly portrayed by Mike Giannelli. Fast forward to 2016, and David Howard Thornton stepped into the role for Art’s standalone debut, “Terrifier.” Critics might have given it a lukewarm reception, but horror enthusiasts were left spellbound by the sheer carnage, gore, and tantalizing hints of backstory woven throughout the film. Despite being made on a shoestring budget of $35,000, “Terrifier” raked in almost half a million dollars at the box office, proving that it was more than just a slasher flick and paving the way for a sequel.
The Terrifier Franchise Has Been a Major Success
After the initial “Terrifier” movie hit theaters, two additional ones followed, with each one featuring a larger budget and increasingly graphic violence. Interestingly, the third installment found itself set amidst a charming Christmas scene. This third film has been the most successful in the series to date, earning over $90 million on a $2 million budget and receiving mostly positive reviews, except for those who still view “Terrifier” as merely a shock/schlock extravaganza.
Following the unveiling of Terrifier 3, creator Leone shared insights into the future of the franchise, focusing particularly on its conclusion. Although Leone clarified that there’s no firm decision yet on how many more films he will make for the Terrifier series, he did assure fans that he has a clear idea about how it ends, and it will be spectacular. Leone further hinted that what he has planned so far would mark the most daring moment in the series, and he is ready to deliver an unforgettable ending to this Art the Clown storyline.
Terrifier 4 does not currently have a planned release date.
