Terrifier 4 Ends the Supernatural Detour of the Last 2 Movies Says Director

As a dedicated fan of horror films who has been following the Terrifier series since its inception, I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming release of Terrifier 3! The franchise has always pushed the boundaries of gore and disturbing imagery, and it seems that this third installment will be no exception.

Prior to the launch of his newest “Terrifier” film installment, we had a conversation with director Damien Leone. This third movie promises even more gruesome special effects and unsettling visuals, following on from the success of the first two films that have cultivated a dedicated fanbase. At a recent festival, Leone hinted at plans for another “Terrifier” film after the release of this one, which is set to hit cinemas on October 11th. Given that the previous films ended on cliffhangers, it’s reasonable to anticipate a similar conclusion for this new chapter.

Leone said to MovieWeb, “The ending resembles The Empire Strikes Back’s, leaving you wondering if there will be more. As a creator, I wouldn’t leave the audience hanging like that. When writing part two, I had a clear idea of where my story would end. So, it was about arranging the puzzle pieces to reach that finale. The ending of part three establishes an intense predicament for our final girl, Sienna, and this mission she must now undertake. This will be her main focus in part four.” Leone further explained.

The second and third parts delved into the otherworldly aspect of the Art the Clown character, as I was keen to delve into an unexplored element of the slasher genre. Usually, the slasher is just a supernatural entity that returns, but no one ever explains why. So, I wanted to investigate the source of this evil that keeps bringing them back – what it is, how it works, and what its nature is.

In the upcoming sequel, Art the Clown has returned to his roots, and it feels as if we’re going back to where it all began in part one. He appears to be mortal once more. While I can’t reveal too many details, I believe this return brings a satisfying full-circle moment for the franchise.

Art the Clown Gifts Us a Black Christmas in Terrifier 3

Leone further shared the sources of inspiration that shaped his concept for “Terrifier 3”. He mentioned a renowned filmmaker who played a significant role in the creation of Art the Clown as an antagonist. “I draw inspiration from numerous films I adore, and there’s definitely a hint of ‘The Exorcist’ in this movie with the villainous Vicky character,” he shared. “Regarding the scale and atmosphere of this film, I aimed to replicate the original ‘Black Christmas’ feel.” He added:

“But I also was excited to shoot on Panavision anamorphic lenses, which I’ve never done before…
Those lenses are more expensive than the budget of

Terrifier 2

Those are the lenses that John Carpenter always shoots his films on, one of the biggest influences on me. Of course, the original
Halloween
was one of my favorite movies of all time.
There would be no Art [the Clown] without that movie
.”
