As a die-hard fan of The Voice, I have to say that Ariana Grande‘s decision not to return to the show left me scratching my head. After witnessing her heartfelt bond with her team during Season 21, I was hoping she would continue to lend her voice and guidance to aspiring artists in future seasons.
The excitement for the 26th season of “The Voice” has reached its peak as we approach the naming of the winner in a week’s time, with Season 27 on the horizon in the TV schedule of 2025. Original coach Adam Levine is set to return then, but with no permanent coaches confirmed for the future, it remains a complete enigma what will transpire after that. If the show decides to select from its extensive list of former “The Voice” coaches, Ariana Grande could be an excellent choice following the success of “Wicked”. Yet, she has expressed no intentions of ever returning to “The Voice”, and her reason is not as I would anticipate.
Ariana Grande first appeared on “The Voice” in Season 21, however, none of her contestants reached the finale. This season happened at the same time as the announcement that she and Cynthia Erivo would be starring in the film adaptation of “Wicked”. It seemed that the shooting schedule for “Wicked” clashed with “The Voice”, but it’s possible this wasn’t the only factor behind her departure from the NBC show. She discussed her reasons further on the “Las Culturistas” podcast, hosted by Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers.
I find myself deeply connected with just about everyone I meet. The issue is, this level of attachment proves challenging for me since I tend to immerse myself fully. I become immersed in their lives, showing a great deal of affection. I genuinely enjoy meeting people, and I’ve grown quite invested in them.
It was clear to viewers of The Voice that Ariana Grande had a strong affection for her team during that season, making it unexpected that this very attachment might deter her from coming back. Blake Shelton felt the need for a break after 23 seasons, while Kelly Clarkson was facing difficulties and desired to escape Los Angeles. Even though I didn’t want them to leave, their reasons made sense to me.
It seems puzzling to me that she’s not returning because she became overly involved. I would expect her deep care for others to motivate her to help even more people. However, perhaps the enormity of it all was simply too much for her, and I must acknowledge her decision to establish those limits.
Ariana Grande shared during a podcast interview that she’s not sending daily texts to her team as she previously did, which had caused some issues on the show, but she continues to stay informed about their activities. In other words, she has scaled back on the texting frequency, but remains in the loop regarding their work.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve got a soft spot for these folks, and we keep our connection alive through Instagram. Their posts are always something I look forward to, giving me a sneak peek into their world, keeping me updated on their latest happenings.
Reflecting on Season 21, it’s clear that Ariana Grande built strong connections with her singers. She even went the extra mile by sending them care packages to maintain their vocal wellness, and as previously mentioned, she would still message them, going beyond the stipulations of her contract.
If you found Snoop Dogg tough on artists during this season, wait until you see how emotional Ariana Grande was during her first Battle round! Kelly Clarkson was moved to tears by Grande’s emotional outbursts, and Blake Shelton had to console her after every episode, reminding her that they weren’t sending eliminated contestants to a dangerous place like an alligator pit. However, it’s worth noting that Snoop Dogg has shown his own vulnerability by crying often throughout the season as well.
Looking forward to discovering who the next four renowned coaches will be on The Voice, if there’s indeed a 28th season ahead. However, fans dreaming about Ariana Grande making a comeback might find their hopes dashed as she may not be returning for another round.
As a gamer, “Right now, I’m keeping my fingers crossed as we approach the grand finale of Season 26. The Top 5 artists will be unveiled at 9 p.m. ET on Tuesday, December 3, live on NBC. If you can’t catch it then, don’t worry! The two-part live finale airs on Monday and Tuesday the following week. To stay updated, make sure you’re subscribed to Peacock, where all Season 26 episodes will be available for streaming the day after they air.
