Predictably, fans were thrilled to hear about his upcoming reality show, Beast Games, which will involve 1,000 competitors vying for $5 million. However, in the time leading up to the show’s debut, much of this anticipation has been overshadowed by controversy.
We’ve gathered all known controversies involving MrBeast in preparation for Beast Games‘ launch, along with current updates on the matter. So far, many accusations against him are unsubstantiated or still under investigation.

Faking Videos
What makes MrBeast’s YouTube content unique is that he consistently claims all his videos are genuine, from being buried alive to distributing large sums of money. The events shown in his videos truly transpire as viewers witness. However, there have been recent allegations—most prominently by former employee DogPack404—that MrBeast fabricates his content. These claims encompass a range of activities, such as employing friends as competitors, heavily relying on CGI, or even pre-determining the outcomes.
Exaggerated or Fabricated?
In a chat with Youtuber Oompaville, MrBeast admitted that occasionally, his team makes slight alterations to their videos, but these changes never jeopardize the video’s truthfulness. Often, when original participants couldn’t show up, his team members would step in at the last minute for the videos. Generally, these edits serve to enhance the drama or excitement in a video. Yet, distinguishing between exaggerated and fabricated content can sometimes be blurry.

Running Illegal Lotteries
In a video posted by DogPack404, it was alleged that MrBeast conducts illegal lotteries. The concern is that many of his giveaways demand purchases for entry or fail to deliver the advertised prizes to winners. Since these contests are primarily aimed at children, critics like DogPack404 argue that this adds an extra layer of questionability. Moreover, some of the items in the giveaways were signed by other team members instead of MrBeast himself.
Poor Management
Following the allegations, MrBeast has issued a Cease-and-Desist order to DogPack404, stating that he is disseminating false information and damaging his business. He’s even hinted at the possibility of taking legal action against the former employee. The legality of some of these giveaways according to FTC regulations remains uncertain, but there’s definitely indications that many were poorly handled. MrBeast has established a page for past participants to request refunds in response to this situation. Some videos where the alleged mismanagement occurred have either been removed or made private.

Workplace and Staff Allegations
In July of this year, Ava Tyson, a long-time friend of Jimmy’s and a frequent star in MrBeast’s videos, faced serious accusations related to child grooming. A collection of chat logs from a private Discord server emerged, revealing that she had sent inappropriate and troubling “jokes” and messages to minors. Some individuals involved in these conversations spoke up in support of her, while others continued to assert the allegations.
Responding to the allegations, MrBeast openly criticized Ava’s actions and retained a legal team to probe the accusations leveled against her and his organization. Following a three-month inquiry, the investigation revealed several instances of workplace harassment, yet found the claims of sexual misconduct to be questionable.
Continued Controversy
Public response to MrBeast’s handling of the Ava situation was mixed. While some praised him for jumping into action, others felt he’d taken too long to respond (which he later claimed was at the advice of his legal team), while others argued that he’d been aware of her problematic behavior even earlier and should have acted then. Additionally, critics pointed out the potential conflict of interest in Jimmy hiring a law firm to examine his company for alleged wrongdoings. MrBeast stressed that the firm conducted an external review to get to the truth, but many remain unconvinced.
Besides the accusations against Ava, it has been revealed that a past member of MrBeast’s team was also implicated in similar claims. Initially, this individual collaborated with a registered sex offender named Delaware when MrBeast first started his channel. However, MrBeast asserted that he wasn’t aware of Delaware’s background and would not have hired him had he known. Some sources claim that Delaware disclosed his past to MrBeast. Additionally, other ex-employees like Matt Turner and Jake Weddle have brought forth accusations concerning the safety and work environment within MrBeast’s workplace.

Inappropriate Jokes
In his teenage years, Jimmy frequently told jokes that were disrespectful towards race and sexuality. Some of these past jokes have resurfaced during recent controversies surrounding him. After expressing regret and aiming for a more wholesome image, it remains challenging for some people to distinguish the current Jimmy from his past self.
Smaller but Not Insubstantial Critiques
Among the various contentious issues listed, this one appears to be relatively minor. Regarding MrBeast, he hasn’t made similar questionable jokes recently (with the exception of an explicit, heavily criticized joke about Bhad Bhabie from 2017). Furthermore, while allegations of racism and homophobia have decreased, viewers have pointed out a notable absence of diversity in his videos, particularly when it comes to female representation.

Much like MrBeast, Rosanna Pansino is a highly recognized figure on YouTube. She’s gained fame from her performances in the popular webseries “Escape the Night” and appearances as a judge on “Nailed It!”, showcasing her acting and culinary talents. In 2021, she participated in MrBeast’s “Extreme $1,000,000 Hide And Seek,” finishing in fourth place. However, according to Pansino herself, her actual position was among the top three contestants.
Not Just About Numbers
Two years post the competition’s conclusion, Pansino voiced concerns on X platform against MrBeast, alleging he had manipulated his video and altered its rules for his advantage as the winner. It was Zach King, the purported victor, who concealed himself in the ceiling, an area where the other competitors were instructed not to go. Furthermore, Pansino asserted that Logan Paul exited before she was discovered, a move that could have positioned her as the runner-up. The suspicion of editing, which seemed to harm only Pansino and Quackity (a Spanish speaker), sparked accusations of prejudice and sexism.
The argument between them escalated dramatically when supporters of MrBeast started bullying Pansino, including making death threats. She initially took down her post and apologized, but later rescinded that apology and reaffirmed her original statements. It seems MrBeast tried to talk to her privately, but the conversation didn’t progress any further, and as of now, Pansino is one of his most vocal critics.

Lunchly, Feastables, and MrBeast Burger
Besides his YouTube channel, MrBeast has dabbled in various food-related projects. One of the latest is Lunchly, advertised as a healthier option compared to Lunchables. However, MrBeast encountered criticism after collaborating with Logan Paul, who’s known for being controversial, and for perhaps exaggerating the health benefits of Lunchly compared to other products. Matters escalated when Rosanna Pansino discovered mold on one of his meals during a review.
An Unappetizing History
On previous occasions, one of MrBeast’s restaurant chains has faced criticism. Similar troubles arose with his MrBeast Burger venture, where customers noticed significant differences in burger quality across different locations, largely due to the use of ghost kitchens. MrBeast took legal action against the operators of these kitchens, Virtual Dining Concepts, but they retaliated by suing him as well. At present, there’s not much known about the outcome of those lawsuits.
In a somewhat smaller scale, Feastables, MrBeast’s candy brand, has faced criticism as well. In 2023, he requested his followers to assist in cleaning up his Walmart displays. Some followers complied by posting photos or memes of their participation, but others perceived this as unpaid work. Lately, there have been whispers suggesting that the candy bars were produced using child labor. However, during an interview with Oompaville, MrBeast firmly denied these allegations, emphasizing that they are Fairtrade-certified and ethically sourced.

Not Making Payments
In early 2024, a YouTube video surfaced alleging that MrBeast hadn’t paid Mission Flight for their role in his 1000 eye surgeries video. The organization stated they had attempted to contact him but were unsuccessful. They hoped to find a way to get in touch and rectify the situation. On October 31st, the organization announced that MrBeast had repaid the $124,000 owed to them, resolving the issue according to them. However, for some, this matter continues to be a source of contention.
A Pattern of Miscommunication
In a recent video, Mission Flight admitted that there was a third party funding the mentioned eye surgeries, but unfortunately, a significant misunderstanding occurred which prevented these funds from reaching Mission Flight. Although this misunderstanding scenario could very well be true, it’s important to note that similar instances of non-payment have been reported by others, though their claims lack concrete proof. If this is indeed the case, it’s less ominous than Jimmy failing to make payments himself, but it still represents a significant problem that needs addressing – one which Mission Flight appears to be working on resolving.

Ableism and Exploitation
It’s worth noting that while MrBeast is famously known for his extreme stunts and games, a significant portion of his content actually focuses on charitable endeavors aimed at bettering society. For instance, many of his videos feature him helping the visually impaired see, the hearing-impaired hear, and individuals without limbs regain mobility. Yet, while the recipients of these acts appear joyful, not everyone in the comments shares this sentiment.
Criticism and Praise
Many have critiqued MrBeast for essentially exploiting people’s disabilities or acting as though they can and should be “cured.” More widely, critics have claimed that he exploits people’s poverty for content and focuses on optics above sustainable solutions. An example of this occurred when he helped build 100 wells in Africa, with some viewers perceiving the act as offensive or culturally insensitive. However, as MrBeast fairly pointed out, the people in his videos need help, and if their governments won’t provide it, he might as well be the one to do so.

Crypto Insider Scams
Besides the allegations mentioned earlier, MrBeast has recently been implicated in accusations of running a cryptocurrency scam. Analysts on the site Lock.io assert that he deceived investors and engaged in insider trading and manipulative practices like pump-and-dump schemes. It is claimed that he pocketed approximately $23 million from various tokens, with SUPER being one of the notable ones.
Shady and Suspicious
Investigator Coffeezilla delved deeply into the suspicions surrounding insider trading. His investigation revealed that, although there is no definitive proof that MrBeast engaged in any illegal activities at present, some questionable dealings were uncovered. Adding to the complexity, MrBeast asserts that he doesn’t control his cryptocurrency wallet; instead, a different entity manages it. However, in past podcasts, he seemed to claim responsibility for making several investment decisions.

‘Beast Games’ Mistreatment
Despite the varied perspectives on the upcoming Beast Games due to various preceding controversies, the games themselves are also engulfed in debates. At present, five lawsuits accuse Beast Games of sexual harassment and persistent mistreatment during production. Moreover, former contestants have alleged that they lacked essential supplies such as food, hygiene items like underwear or feminine products. Furthermore, some participants deemed the filming conditions hazardous, and allegations suggest that the participants weren’t fairly compensated for their participation in the series.
All Fun and Games Until…
MrBeast has stated that the allegations of exploitation have been exaggerated and that hidden footage will reveal the facts. Yet, he admitted that certain accusations, including his team’s lack of supplying sufficient feminine hygiene products to a competitor, were accurate. Meanwhile, Rosanna Pansino disclosed that other contestants have contacted her about injuries and mistreatment they suffered on set. The magnitude of these problems, as well as whether they stem from negligence, inexperience, or something else, are still under investigation.
It’s clear that MrBeast has accomplished a lot of good deeds for people, but there’s also no avoiding the fact that he’s caused harm unintentionally or otherwise. With his upcoming project, Beast Games, serving as a potential breakthrough, this presents an opportunity for him to take criticism on board, redefine his image, and show the world he lives up to his fans’ high expectations—or else it could be the moment that exposes some ugly truths about him, making things even worse for his reputation.
