As a leader, she has proven time and again to be one of the greatest in the galaxy – a testament to her indomitable spirit and intelligence.

In a universe as expansive and age-old as that of “Star Wars,” it’s inevitable to encounter characters with immense power. Ranging from Jedi Masters and Sith Lords, to renowned bounty hunters, the list is endless. Just like in Shonen anime, discussions among “Star Wars” enthusiasts often revolve around who is the strongest character, and they passionately debate hypothetical battles between these characters. These debates can delve quite deeply due to the extensive roster of “Star Wars,” which boasts numerous incredibly powerful female characters in addition to the Luke Skywalkers and Darth Vaders of the galaxy.

For today’s discussion, we’ll be focusing on the officially recognized “Star Wars” stories as established by Disney. This excludes characters like Mara Jade, Darth Traya, and Jaina Solo. Even though the powerful Force entity Abeloth outranks everyone else mentioned, she hasn’t been reintroduced into the canon yet, so she must watch from the sidelines for now.

Notably, Phasma’s unofficial position as the First Order’s chief warrior was unique compared to what existed within the Empire, demonstrating her superiority in raw combat abilities when contrasted with her peers.

Indeed, it could be argued that any Jedi from the prequel era might have been more powerful than Phasma; however, this list would primarily consist of background characters with green lightsabers if we follow that line of reasoning. A well-structured power ranking necessitates a character who outperforms expectations, and in the Star Wars universe, Phasma stands tall among Force-less female characters as the top choice for exceeding her perceived potential. Unfortunately, Fennec Shand does not make the cut this time around.

Bo-Katan Kryze

Even though she lacks the Force, as demonstrated numerous times, Mandalorians have shown they can hold their own against the Jedi, given their skillset. In battle-ready beskar armor and armed with a formidable arsenal, Bo-Katan serves as a reminder that non-Force users in “Star Wars” can still pose a significant threat.

Asajj Ventress

As a devoted Star Wars fan, I find myself at the third position on this list, and what do you know? We’ve got our first Force user – the enigmatic figure who’s danced between light and dark, Asajj Ventress! Her journey through the Star Wars universe has been nothing short of captivating, filled with unexpected twists and turns. Even her seemingly definitive demise was merely a pause, as she awaits a satisfactory explanation for her miraculous resurrection.

Through the Clone Wars, Ventress boasts an impressive dueling history, with matches against prominent Jedi like Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ahsoka Tano, Luminara Unduli, Anakin Skywalker, and Count Dooku resulting in wins or stalemates. Despite not being the most powerful Force-user among the witches of Dathomir, her contributions on the battlefield set her apart from many others. After parting ways with Dooku, Ventress enjoyed a successful but brief career as a bounty hunter. The circumstances surrounding her resurrection remain unclear, but it’s safe to say that such an event should not be underestimated, don’t you think?

In “Star Wars: The Bad Batch,” Ventress makes a reappearance, appearing more powerful than ever before. Her bond with the Force has grown so strong that she can tranquilize colossal creatures just by establishing a connection with them. Although she might not be at the very top of this list, it’s undeniable that she deserves a place on it without question.

Mother Aniseya

In the upcoming Disney+ series, “Star Wars: The Acolyte,” we encounter several potent female characters, among them are Force-gifted twins Mae and Osha. However, the character we’re focusing on from this show for our list is their mother and head of her witch coven on Brendok, Mother Aniseya. Regrettably, by the time the main narrative of “The Acolyte” unfolds, Mother Aniseya has already perished, slain in a conflict with the Jedi many years prior. This confrontation is gradually unveiled throughout the series through flashbacks, which also delve into her extraordinary abilities.

Initially, it appears that Aniseya shaped Mae and Osha directly from the Force, utilizing the intense concentration on Brendok. This unique ability propels her significantly up the rankings, as crafting life from midi-chlorians is an exceptionally uncommon use of the Force’s power. Furthermore, we witness Aniseya wielding potent magical abilities, transforming into smoke at one instance for swift travel and penetrating a Jedi’s mind to control him.

It might be that Aniseya’s complete abilities could place her higher in this ranking, yet regrettably, as Disney has scrapped “The Acolyte,” we won’t have a comprehensive grasp of how she brought forth her daughters or the boundaries of her magic. Nevertheless, position seven is nothing to underestimate.

Yaddle

Among all the Jedi from the prequel era that could have made this list, I firmly believe Yaddle stands out as the top choice. While many of her male counterparts share similarities in terms of power levels, they tend to blend together somewhat. In contrast, although Yaddle had less screen time compared to some of her peers, there are compelling reasons why she deserves this spot over them. Here are a few key points:

The main one is simply her species. Yaddle is one of only three known characters from Yoda’s still-unnamed species. The other two, Yoda and Grogu, are both incredibly powerful in the Force, beyond most other mortal beings. It stands to reason that Yaddle possesses similar power, though her limits have yet to be revealed in the current canon. However, we have gotten a few clear examples of her strength. She fights valiantly during the so-called “Night of Sorrow” against the Path of the Open Hand cult, which is detailed in the High Republic novel “Cataclysm.” She also holds her own against Count Dooku in “Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi,” and while she ultimately dies at his hand, this can be attributed largely to her hubris, not an imbalance of strength. Known as a golden age for the Jedi, the High Republic plays host to a lot of powerful characters, and we could have easily added fan favorite Vernestra Rwoh here instead. However, while Vernestra’s prodigious abilities are impressive, Avar is clearly the more powerful of the two.

As a gamer immersed in the High Republic tales, I find Avar possesses an extraordinary method of using the Force – a rare talent that can be likened to a masterful musician tuning into different frequencies. With this skill, she can resonate with Jedi from across the galaxy, picking up fundamental details and sensing the emotional pulses from far-off realms. Her bond with the Force is deeper than most current Jedi in the canon, reflecting the spiritual essence of the Order during the High Republic era.

Similar to other distinguished Jedi Masters, Avar boasts heightened agility, strong telekinesis, and exceptional lightsaber prowess. In the novel “Star Wars: Light of the Jedi,” she demonstrates her Force abilities by manipulating weather conditions, causing it to rain. This character takes center stage in the first High Republic book, a testament to her significance. Avar Kriss embodies the evolution of the Jedi in this era and stands out as one of the most impressive, deserving a place on this list.

Ahsoka Tano

We’re venturing into the elite group now – the primary characters, timeless legends, and adored fan picks. Ahsoka Tano might not boast the midi-chlorian levels of Yaddle or the mystical abilities of Mother Aniseya, but she possesses a different kind of strength. Her resume is one of the longest and most impressive in all of “Star Wars,” dating back to her early years at the start of “The Clone Wars.” Her achievements in that series alone would secure her a spot on this list – accomplishments such as single-handedly taking down an entire crew of Trandoshan hunters in the jungle, a la Predator, defeating Darth Maul in personal combat, and surviving Order 66 despite being trapped on a Republic cruiser filled with brainwashed clone troopers.

Including her battles from “Star Wars: Rebels” such as effortlessly overpowering Imperial Inquisitors, engaging Darth Vader on Malachor V, and navigating the enigmatic World Between Worlds, it’s clear she is not just a powerful warrior in the “Star Wars” universe, but also one of the most force-sensitive characters.

Apart from her achievements in her own series, her triumphs against Baylan Skoll’s followers, and her uncovering of ancient Force mysteries that both Jedi and Sith had overlooked for ages, Ahsoka is not an omnipotent Force entity nor does she possess the Skywalker’s notebook shortcuts. Instead, she represents the epitome of a Jedi’s potential, even though she no longer officially holds that title.

Some might quibble over Leia being so high on this list given how little we see her do Force-wise in the “Star Wars” movies. But come on. It’s Princess Leia! That Skywalker blood is enough to put her above most normal Force users, and we see it at major play in “The Last Jedi.” Make fun of the animation all you like, but being able to keep yourself alive in the vacuum of space and pull yourself back to safety of your own pure will is one of the most impressive displays of power we’ve ever seen in “Star Wars.”

In the movie “The Rise of Skywalker,” it’s evident that Leia, following her Jedi training with Luke, was on par with her brother in terms of Force skills, even managing to outperform him during a sparring session. It’s established within canon that she shares a comparable level of Force sensitivity due to their common ancestry and close relation to Anakin. Beyond her combat abilities, Leia is among the most perceptive Force users in current canon, demonstrating an extraordinary ability to read energy at a young age (as displayed in the “Obi-Wan Kenobi” series) and even from vast distances.

What stands out most about Leia is that she doesn’t let her innate talents define her completely; she’s widely recognized as a skilled political leader and tactician, arguably the best in Star Wars. Interestingly enough, her abilities with the Force aren’t even her strongest suit, which adds to her unique appeal and contributes to her ranking third on this list.

Mother Talzin

Even though Abeloth is confined to the alternate timeline of “Star Wars” Legends, Mother Talzin represents malevolent witches and goddesses worldwide in the main storyline. The Nightsisters of Dathomir have remained a significant element since their reemergence from their previous appearances in “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.” Furthermore, while other Nightsister clan members have demonstrated remarkable power in series like “Ahsoka” and “Tales of the Empire,” Mother Talzin is currently the most potent among them.

She possesses a wide array of abilities, encompassing future prediction, astral travel, concealing herself with stealth charms, and boosting others’ magic using her own power, like she did with Savage Opress. In battles, she deploys a potent green Force lightning substitute, utilizes diverse protective enchantments, summons an enchanted sword named the Blade of Talzin, which she expertly handles, and in “The Clone Wars” series and related comics, demonstrates immense resilience to death, as her magical prowess lets her persist in the mortal realm through dark methods.

Should additional reasons be needed to make you doubt, take note that Sheev Palpatine, also known as Darth Sidious, views Talzin as a formidable adversary and a significant threat to his schemes – one of the rare individuals to achieve such an ominous status. If this fearsome Sith Lord is apprehensive about her, then certainly you should feel the same.

Rey Skywalker

Regardless of what some right-wing critics might say, Rey Skywalker remains the most influential female character in today’s “Star Wars” universe. If you choose to turn a deaf ear to her accomplishments, it won’t diminish her power. Disregard her lack of formal Force or lightsaber training, or her impressive piloting abilities and mind trick mastery. Consider instead her strong presence in the throne room scene from “The Last Jedi.” Yes, she’s incredibly talented, but her resilience and commitment are what truly make her powerful. Rey’s most remarkable ability is her adaptability – her knack for quickly learning new skills and seamlessly integrating them into her existing skillset.

Destroying Palpatine and the Sith Eternal cult stands out as the pinnacle achievement in her career (so far), and this particular scene clearly illustrates why she is ranked number one on this list. The extraordinary powers bestowed upon her by her Force dyad with Ben Solo make her one of the most powerful characters in all of “Star Wars.” She demonstrates this power by drawing upon the entire history of the Jedi to vanquish the franchise’s most formidable antagonist.
