The 76th Emmys Biggest Snubs include Kelsey Grammer, Richard Lewis, Nicole Kidman, and Emma Stone

As a huge fan of television and someone who has been following the Emmy Awards for years, I can’t help but feel disappointed by some of the snubs in this year’s nominations. Kelsey Grammer and Emma Stone are two performers who truly deserve recognition for their recent work.

The 76th Primetime Emmy Awards nominations are out, bringing anticipated recognitions to shows like “The Bear” (with 23 nods), “Baby Reindeer” (11 nominations), and “Shōgun” (boasting 25 nominations). Amidst the fanfare, some unexpected absences emerged. Notably missing were acting greats like Kelsey Grammer and double Oscar-winning actress Emma Stone.

Almost 19 years after “Frasier” aired its final episode in 2004, Kelsey Grammer reprised his role as the psychiatrist protagonist in the show’s revival on Paramount+ in October 2023, which has already been renewed for a second season. However, despite Grammer’s impressive performance, he failed to secure a nomination for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series at the awards. Sadly, “Frasier” itself was also overlooked and didn’t receive any recognition, not even for Best Comedy Series, despite the tremendous acclaim it received upon its return.

Emma Stone, who starred in “The Curse” on Showtime five years after her role in “Maniac” (2018), was expected to receive an Emmy nomination for her outstanding performance as Whitney Siegel. However, despite being nominated for a Golden Globe, Stone and the satirical black comedy-drama created by Benny Safdie were snubbed during this year’s Emmy Awards, with no nominations in any category, including Outstanding Drama Series.

The Snubs Continue at the Primetime Emmy Awards

Although it’s expected that not every performer can receive an Emmy nomination for all their work, this year’s Emmy nods brought unexpected outcomes. Some actors and actresses who appeared to be sure bets were overlooked by the voters. Here are a few notable snubs that merit attention.

Abby Elliot plays the role of Natalie Berzatto, Carmy’s sister, in “The Bear” which debuted in 2022. The series has garnered acclaim for its impressive acting ensemble since then. Notably, Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach have been recognized with Emmy nominations. However, Abby Elliot’s exceptional performance has been overlooked so far, as she hasn’t received a nod for Outstanding Supporting Actress.

I’ve been a huge fan of “Fargo” since its premiere in 2014. The Coen Brothers’ unique storytelling and brilliant acting have made it one of my favorite shows. But let me tell you, when Jennifer Jason Leigh joined the cast as Lorraine Lyon in Season 5, the show reached new heights. I was on the edge of my seat every week, eager to see what she would do next.

It’s unfortunate that Richard Lewis, who contributed significantly to the success of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” during its final season at HBO, was not recognized with an Outstanding Supporting Actor nomination this year. Despite his deserving role in the show since 2006, he was previously nominated as part of the Outstanding Ensemble Cast but never individually. With Larry David’s series nearing its conclusion, it seemed fitting for Lewis to receive long-overdue recognition with a heartfelt victory.

As a longtime Emmy Awards observer with a deep appreciation for exceptional television performances, I find it disheartening to see some deserving actors overlooked year after year. This season, there were some particularly notable snubs that left me feeling frustrated and disappointed.
