As someone who has been following the sneaker scene for quite some time now, I am thrilled to share my perspective on the most anticipated sneaker releases of the fourth week in July 2024.
As a long-time sneakerhead and avid follower of the latest footwear trends, I can’t help but get excited as we approach the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The energy and anticipation in the air is palpable, and it seems that this week’s sneaker drops are reflecting that excitement with a plethora of Olympic-themed releases.
On the feature side, we kicked off the summer season by showcasing top sneakers transformed into slip-ons. We featured various collaborations and fresh takes on classic designs. additionally, we had an enlightening conversation with Alex/2Tone from Born X Raised. As a versatile creator, he shared insights about filmmaking and delved into the realm of skateboarding culture.
I’ve been closely following the latest developments in the footwear industry, and it seems that two major brands have had quite a busy time dealing with legal issues. For me as a fan, Nike faced a $60 million lawsuit from The Shoe Surgeon, which their team responded to. At the same time, Odell Beckham Jr. saw the end of his case with Nike, marking a relief for him. As for adidas, they’ve found themselves in some hot water. Bella Hadid reportedly filed a lawsuit against the brand following their controversial SL72 campaign featuring her, which also drew backlash from the Israeli government.
Regarding sneaker news, there’s been buzz about the upcoming “Leche Blue” Travis Scott x Nike Zoom Field Jaxx and a leaked Nike Air Ja 2. We’ve also caught our first glimpse of A Ma Maniére’s Air Jordan 4 “Phantom.” In other sneaker news, Joe Freshgoods shared information about his “A Friend Named Cousin” campaign for two New Balance 890v6 colorways. New Balance was also featured in an Aimé Leon Dore collaboration with three versions of the 860v2 up for pre-order. Ronnie Fieg hinted at a new project with PSA, Marvel Comics, and ASICS on Instagram. Lastly, we took a look at the recently unboxed Louis Vuitton Timberland boots.
After going over the significant news from the previous week, let’s assess which sneakers are scheduled for release this week. Kick off your exploration with Jacquemus’ three unique Nike Air Max 1 ’86 colorways. Once you’ve finished browsing through the selection, don’t forget to check out HBX to purchase styles currently up for grabs.
