The Battle Of Jakku Is A Key Event In Star Wars History, And Now We Finally Know Why Luke, Leia, Han And Lando Didn’t Participate In It

As a die-hard Star Wars fan with more than three decades under my belt, I can confidently say that the latest Marvel Comics series, Star Wars: Battle of Jakku – Last Stand, is a thrilling addition to the saga’s rich tapestry. The Battle of Jakku has long been a fascinating mystery, and it’s captivating to see how this pivotal event unfolds in these comics.

What I find particularly intriguing is the revelation as to why our beloved heroes – Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Han Solo, and Lando Calrissian – were absent during the Battle of Jakku. Their preoccupation with hunting down Grand Moff Adelhard makes perfect sense given his potential to grow into a power-hungry tyrant similar to The First Order.

One cannot help but chuckle at the thought of these iconic characters, who have faced off against the darkest forces in the galaxy, being taken aback by a mere bureaucrat. But alas, Adelhard’s ambition and cunning are not to be underestimated.

I eagerly anticipate seeing how our heroes will vanquish this menace in the coming issues of Star Wars: Battle of Jakku – Last Stand. And who knows? Maybe they’ll even learn to appreciate the value of a good bureaucrat after all!

Warning: SPOILERS for Star Wars: Battle of Jakku – Last Stand #1 are ahead!

A significant number of important moments in Star Wars lore are portrayed when you watch the Star Wars movies sequentially or tune into one of the TV series on Disney+, set in a distant galaxy. However, some events have been represented in other media, such as the Battle of Jakku, hinted at in The Force Awakens. In recent times, Marvel Comics has delved into this battle through various limited series. Now, the latest comic series offers insights on why characters like Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Han Solo, and Lando Calrissian didn’t take part in this skirmish.

The destruction of the second Death Star in “Return of the Jedi” weakened the Galactic Empire significantly, but it wasn’t until the Battle of Jakku a year later that the Rebellion finally eliminated the remaining parts of the dictatorship and established the New Republic. Marvel has been portraying the key events of this battle through a series of three limited comics, and after completing “Battle of Jakku — Insurgency Rising” and “Battle of Jakku — Republic Under Siege”, we’re now in the third and final act with the release of “Star Wars: Battle of Jakku – Last Stand” #1. As shown in this initial issue (as reported by ScreenRant), Luke, Leia, Han, and Lando weren’t present for the Battle of Jakku because they were pursuing a high-ranking Imperial officer on their own mission at that time.

More Star Wars Stories

Having grown up as a Star Wars fan since my childhood, I recently revisited “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” and found myself wishing that the franchise would delve deeper into the events leading to the Battle of Scarif, as my personal connection with the characters and their journey resonated strongly with me. This film’s gritty realism and standalone nature made it a unique addition to the saga, leaving me eager for more stories set within the same universe.

In these Marvel comic series, Grand Moff Adelhard’s story unfolds as he attempts to spread a false narrative that the Empire triumphed in the Battle of Endor, suppressing any truth from reaching other galaxies. To bolster his influence, he formed strategic partnerships with factions such as the Acolytes of the Beyond and Kijimi’s Spice Runners. Now, Adelhard seeks to eliminate both the Rebellion and the Empire in order to establish a new empire, hinting at potential conflict over Jakku, suggesting he may even be preparing to battle both sides simultaneously.

In the first installment of “#1 – Battle of Jakku – Last Stand”, Leia Organa, who’s expecting her son Ben (later known as Kylo Ren), summons Luke, Han, and Lando (Chewbacca is preoccupied on Kashyyyk) to aid her in subduing the menacing Adelhard. As it turns out, Adelhard is alive and causing havoc, prompting Leia, Luke, Han, and Lando to prioritize dealing with him instead of directly confronting the Empire during the Battle of Jakku. Although we know that Adelhard will eventually be vanquished, it’s understandable why they would focus their efforts on him because if left unchecked, Adelhard’s New Empire could have evolved into a formidable force similar to the First Order in the Sequel Trilogy era.

As a die-hard “Star Wars” enthusiast, I can’t contain my excitement as the latest issues of “Star Wars: Battle of Jakku – Last Stand” unfold in comic book stores and digital platforms over the coming weeks, revealing the dramatic downfall of Grand Moff Adelhard.
